There's nothing that brings a story more to life than it's characters. Sure it was fun to explore the worlds of Mordor in Lord of The Rings or Toussaint in the but it wouldn't have been the same gosh-darn-it if it wasn't with Frodo Baggins and Geralt of Rivia. That's not even to mention the host of side charaဣcters that often steal the show from our favorite protagonists.
In the Witcher series there's just too many to gush about -- whether it be the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:eccentric Dandelion, the reserved but wi🔯se Vesemir or the often hypocritical freedom fighter Iorveth. Today let's reminisce about characters that may have rubbed us the wroღng way upon first impression, but we grew to love and ones we'll forever hate.
10 Forgive And Forg✱et: Johnny ꦐ
Let's start this off with a soft ball, because no one truly hated Johnny upon first encounter. It was more that Johnny was a mute -- to which was given to him by a curse -- but it made it hard to attach to 🧔him and see his overall importance or relevance to the story at hand. It also didn't help that if you met the game's other Godling, you likely were more annoyed than facinated.
But Johnny is just too charming not to like. He's brave despite his size and stature and is w🦩illing to help our witcher friend in anyway he can; he even makes a brief cameo towards the end of the game!
9 Fool Me Once: Phillipa Eilhart ♛
Instead of picking on the obvious villains of The Witcher 3 -- being Eredin, the crones, Whoreso𓆉n Junior and many more -- we're going to look at the characters who tend to be a little more grey. Phillipa Eilhart is as grey as they come and she's someone that Geralt doesn't seem to trust ever.
Whether it be having to cut through her lies to the truth in The Witcher 2 or keeping up his constant skepticism as to why she wants to help them in The Witcher 3. Spoiler alert! It'꧑s because she's doing it fo♚r her own gain, something that Geralt knew long before she revealed it.
8 🍌 Forgive And Forget: Lambert
"Lambert, Lambert, what a prick." Famous words sung by Geralt of Rivia that do an excellent job to 💖capture the smug pretentiousness that make up Lambert's personality. From the moment you meet up with your fellow witcher friend you get nothing but complaints, gossip and shady motivation that lead you to think he really is a... well, Geralt said it best.
But while Lambert migh൩t talk A LOT, he backs it up on th𝓡e battlefield when the Wild Hunt show up. And afterwards you find that a lot of that talking is a defense to hide his inner emotion.
7 Fool Me Once: King Radovid V 𒀰
Something happened to Radovid between The Witcher 2 and 3, he got dumb. In the second game Radovid may have been your enemy, but like any great villain he had good, logical reasons fo🐲r being so. Well, all that betrayal by sorceress must have gotten to his head, because not only is he now completely insane, but he's also much less calculated.
Sure he plays chess by himself like any true intellectual would, but just like any true intellectual he seems to be a l𒊎ittle to obsessed with t🔯he smell of his own farts. Radovid doesn't trust anyone but himself, and it leads to his downfall.
6 Forgive And Forget: Letho Of Gulet 🅷
Letho of Gulet is the Darth Vader of the Witcher universe. Even when he was "evil" back in The Witcher 2 he still ༒had the redeeming qualities of being badass, green lighting nerds everywhere to describe his actions as "epic" or "totally tubular dude." You never hated Letho, you were either in awe of him or outright just liked him.
It's why by the end of the second game many gamers choose to just outright forgive him after all the transgressions he's committed. In The Witcher 3 you can recruit him for the battle against the Wild Hunt only solidifying𝔉 you🍃r friendship.
5 ♌ Fool Me Once: The Bloody Baron
Phillip Strenger, more commonly known as The Bloody Baron of Velen is one of those complex characters that you love to hate in The Witcher 3 -- or, even more possible, hate to love. The Baron is in the difficult position of being kind and even helping Ciri along in her esca🧸pe from The Wild Hunt, butღ he also beat his wife and drove her and his daughter away.
Sure the Baron deserves some sympathy, but at some level he has reaped what he's sewn. Yeah you want things to end well for the dude, but someone who's lived that destructively only has one pos📖sible conclusion...
4 ✅ Forgive And Forget: Dijkstra
Sigismund Dijkstra is another character that is almost impossible to pin-down. He shares qualities of many in the Witcher universe whether that be friend or foe. Dijkstra is hot-headed yet calculated, mean-spirited and surprisingly empathetic, but above-all he꧙'s looking out for his best interest.
So why not throw him in the same category as Phillipa Eilhart or the Bloody Baron? Because Dijkstra has that lost element of compassion and quote-on-quote good in him that even Geralt spots every now and then. SPOILERS AGAIN, this is what makes killing him so hard in The Witcher 3.
3 Fool Me Once: Emhyr var Emreis ꧑
Emhyr var Emreis, emperor of Nilfgaard, the most powerful kingdom in the Witcher universe is a bad father. That sentence right there sums up this guy in a nutshell, he rules the strongest armies and the most affluent countries, but don't count on him♉ if it comes to friendship or family affection.
Emhyr is pragmatic in everꦍy sense of the word, which invokes admiration of him at the very least. Yet you can tell that he's missing that one component that would round him out as a compassionate human being -- this on full display when it comes to his treatment of Ciri.
2 ꦅ Forgi🅷ve And Forget: Olgierd Von Everec
CD Projekt Red did a masterful job with the release of the first DLC, Hearts of Stone. Everything in the base game of The Witcher 3 seemed so straightforward: defeat bad guys who were skull masks and ride demon horses and also bring your daughter ꦬhome. Sure nuance was sprinkled in-between, but Hearts of Stone dialed that up to nine.
Olgierd Von Everec is an immortal hedonistic sociopa👍th who may bring about the end for Geralt, but boy is this man's story complicated, and very tragic. By the end of the DLC if you play your cards ꦕright you'll not only understand Von Everec, but possibly befriend him.
1 Fool Me Once: T🍃riss Merigold
Woah ho ho, talk about stirring up controversy that really isn't controversy at all since much of the Witcher fan base seem to be in a♍greement that Triss is a scumbag. Is she also an eternal friend of the witcher, someone that he will always be able to rely on? Yes, but also a scumbag.
She took advantage of the witcher's amnesia and slept with the man on several occasions despite him being eternally tied to another woman (Yennefer), who he lost all memory of. Instead of telling him, she൩ bit her lip and said "eh." And she was best friends with this woman -- her relationship with both of them was not as fully fleshed out as CD Projekt Red should've made it -- because it should be weird.
