The main story arc of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Witcher 3 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:DLC expansion Hearts of Stone centers around Olgierd von Everec, a scar-faced outlaw with a dark, mysterious past. Turns out Olgierd has made a deal with the devil, the contract happy sadist Gaunter O'Dimm. In order to fulfill theirಌ agreement, Geralt is employed to grant Olgierd three wishes, the last of which is to recover a violet rose Olgierd gave to his wife Iris years ago.
"Scenes from a Marriage" is one of the spookiest quests in the entire game🧔, filled with faceless undertakers, haunted mansions, and the sad tale of Iris von Everec. While it's easy to sympathize with a loving wife who's been abandoned, there's also so much about her story that...doesn't quite add up:
10 Unreliable Narrat🐼ors🗹
Upon entering the manor, Geralt is met by a dog and a cat who quickly reveal that not only can they talk, but that they're actuaဣlly demons in disguise. There is much that remains unknown about these creatures, but one thing they do make clear is that they know all that has happened to the von Everec's.
However, in one of Iris's memories when Olgierd accidentally burns down his study, the cat says, "I did not expect that." Huh? These animals arౠe basically the all-knowing narrators for this whole quest, why is this the one detail the seem to have forgotten?
9 Unburied 🍨But Well Tended 🃏
As evidenced by the pristine gardens, immaculate🃏 table settings, and freshly dug graves, it's clear that the bizarre, faceless monstrosity that is the Caretaker is good at his job. So why didn't he bury Iris? 🍃 The dog tells Geralt that Iris von Everec ordered the Caretaker to stay away from her for all time.
Yet when Geralt en🅷ters her bedroom, the fire is burning and the bed looks fairly neat (y'k🌳now, other than the rotting corpse lying on it). So the Caretaker is still tending to Iris's bedroom but won't bury her because she told him to "stay away?" Why is he so selective about interpreting the meaning of this command?
8 Hot Topic
Taking 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yennefer's patented all black look and u𒁃pping the goth ante, Iris von Everec's fashion sense certainly makes her stand out from the other characters in Witcher 3. Not only that, but it's a stark contrast to her otherwise loving and bouncy personality.
Why is she dressed like she's perpetually attending a ﷽funeral? Even her 13th century Victoria Secret nightgown is all black! Is it all a not so subtle metaphor for their waning relationship? Or is there just an all lute version of Sisters of Mercy perpetually on tour i🅺n Oxenfurt?
7 ﷽ Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique 💜
When Geralt finds the well decayed corpse of Iris lying in her be♍d, he asks the animals what caused her death to which the dog replies "Her heart burst." Geralt thinks he means a heart-attack, but the dog replies "No, it simply burst."
However, the cat then describes her death less dramatically, stating simply that s💜he laid died from "grief and loneliness." Why the differing descriptions here? Did she literally go to sleep and then suffer a depression-based heart explosion? Was Olgierd cursed with a heart of stone while Iris was stuck witওh a heart of water balloon?
6 🅘 Who Ya Gonna Call?
Throughout 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Witcher 3, Geralt of Rivia encount🐷ers numerous spirits, most of whom fall into two categories: wraiths and ghosts. Wraiths are troubled by past experiences and now violently haunt the living. 🅷 Ghosts are merely the personalities of the living after they die, often summoned for information. In her afterlife, Iris von Everec is both.
As a wraith she possesses the as of yet unseen ability to hop between paintings. As a ghost she is asleep within a painting and can only be awoken after Geralt views her memories and faces her nightmares. What makes Iri🌼s so special tha🐷t she is such a rare instance of both wraith and ghost?
5 ജ What Dre🌟ams May Come
After burying Iris, she beckons Geralt to follow her into one of her paintings. The animals say this brushstroke textured world existed only in her mind while she was alive but then manifested as a real place in death, to which Geralt replies "Pretty fantastic tale. Hard as hell to believe." 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Geralt's onto something here.
While an interesting premise for a fantastic excursion, the log💟ic of how 🌠this all works is a bit thin. This brief exchange seems more like the game's writers apologizing than a believable explanation.
4 🐼 ౠ Sleepy But Ready To Pose
Coming into the bedroom after some off-camera blood play, Olgierd accidentally wakes Iris from her sleep. Aꦓfter dodging her valid concerns about, well, the bloody rags, Olgierd tells her he's exhausted and ready for bed. Iris, now awake, says that it's time for one൩ of her patented 2am portrait sessions, to which Olgierd agrees for some reason.
If Olgierd is using sleep🌳 as a convenient way to avoid Iris's questions, why then does he so quickly agree to model for her instead? Maybe the reason he leaves her is he can't get any rest!
3 ༒ The Freddy Krueger Of Abandonment
After seeing the decline of Olgierd and Iris's relationship through her memories, Geralt's then faces Iris's greatest fear: Olgie꧂rd leaving her. Really? The last memory was of Iris saying she feels nothing💝 for Olgierd and that she wants him to leave. The previous memory was of Olgierd refusing to give her a divorce and then murdering her father!
Wasn't Olgierd leaving exactly what she wanted? It would've made more sense if the last memory was of her reading the letter, with tears of joy in her eyes, followed by a montage of her packing for an 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Eat Pray Love experience in Skellig while "I'm Every Woman" plays in the background.
2 🅘 ও Total Eclipse Of The Heart
Iris's love for Olgierd is the driving factor of her misery. The biggest question is...why? Why does she still love him? Not 𝄹only does Olgierd neglect her at every turn, but then he kills her father and feeds his body to "the beasts"? Iris makes it pretty clear that she no longer cares for her husband at all.
However when 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Geralt completes ⛎her journey down memory lane she's disappointed that he's not Olgierd? What? When did she have this change of heart? Well, apparently all he had to do was give her a violet rose and all was forgiven! Note take﷽n!
1 🦹 Fame! She Wants To Live Forever!
Iris says that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Olgierd's pact with O'Dimm was for riches and immortality for himself AND for Iris. ﷽So Olgierd gets stabbed in the chest with a sword and lives, but all Iris had to do to kill herself was go to bed?
Was Olgierd lying to her? Did she assume he was selling his soul for both of them but in actuality it had nothing to do with her? Living forever as a pꦐainting-porting, flower hoarding ghost is surely an eternity of existence, but it's not the same as being immortal.
