With that in mind – to help you get started on your journey as a witcher in contemporary Earth – here are a bunch of helpful tips that'll get you ready to take down Noonwraiths and Griffins in no time.
Updated on October 18, 2021 by Kim Dailey: A witcher, no matter their experience level, can never hone their skills too much. That's why we've revisited our beginner playbook to round out the information and give you a better foothold. Whether you're just setting out as a fledgling witcher or merely wish to brush up on the basics, you can never have too solid of a foundation!
Get Used To Blocking
It's easy to get into the habit of mindlessly swiping away at the enemies until they die, but this doesn't work when you're stumbling onto those of the tougher variety.
You need to block or the damage they dole out will steamroll you. Two hits and you can be K.O'd without blocking.
To block, hold down on the screen, but not continuously. Rather, wait for the enemy animation to begin and start blocking as they're about to hit. Otherwise, you won't parry a significant amount of the damage.
Timing is everything with blocking and there is no cut and dry approach to it, as every monster will require slightly different timing. Often time꧙s the best timing is instinctual when you quickly draw your sword up to fend off an unexpected attack.
Know Your Enemy
As with any good witcher, it's important to always know what you're up against, and be able to adapt seamlessly when you don't. The various monsters you'll encounter will differ in more ways than just their attack animations.
The attacks themselves can range pretty greatly, such as the type or pattern. For instance, The Succubus can hurl fire while Pixies can attack with multiple strikes in rapid succession. During new encounters in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher: Monster Slayer, it will be important to remain on your guard until you have had a chance to study your enemy's movements.
Different monsters also display different weaknesses along with resilience to different sorts of attacks. Naturally, those succubi that like to fling fire, aren't going to react too harshly to a blast of igni. To prepare for this it is best to take a moment to over the encounter tab that pops up before the battle. Here you can properly prepare by first reading up on the monster's vulnerabilities, then selecting the proper sword for th💜e job along with any useful potions, oils, and bombs you may have on hand.
Don't Bother With Basic Bombs
From the overworld, click the button with the upwards arrow on the bottom center of the screen to find the other menus. Then tap the green button on the top right, labeled "Inventory."
You'll be brought to the "Crafting" page — the first of three tabs in your inventory — with crafting stations. The first is your standard variant which the game starts you out with. Then there are purchasable crafting stations with limited uses that speed up the process. It's a bit like Pokemon Go's egg incubators. Selecting an alchemy station presents you with a selection of crafting options. H🃏ere, you can categorize by bombs, potions, and oils.
When looking at explosives, you might be tempted to go for the cheapest options to start out. However, the "Basic bomb" is a waste of resources. What you want to do is save your resources for the other bombs that cost a little more to make but offer the sort of versatility you will need to combat a wide range of monsters. Given that you don't want to be throwing bombs around willy nilly, you can stockpile bombs for tougher foes with specific weaknesses, so as to always have the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:type of bomb you need handy to work around them. For instance, the Moon Dust bomb does silver damage, the Grapeshot does steel damage, the Dancing Star does fire damage, and the Dimeritium Bomb do꧋es dimeritium damage.
Do Your Dailies
The Witcher: Monster Slayer has daily quests called "contracts." Each daily will give you a sum of gold, and if you complete seven contracts, you'll get a bonus reward.
Suffice to say, you'll want to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:save up plenty of coin and this is the best way to do it. Gold lets you buy new weapons, new armor, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:booster scrolls, potions, oils, bombs, ingredients, crafting stations, 𓂃and pouches for more inventory space.
Add Some Friends
Above the witcher wolf medallion at the bottom of the overworld screen is another icon with three people on it. This is your character and friends menu. Open it and inside, you'll see two tabs — the aforementioned characters and friends. By clicking friends you can choose to "add friends" which will show you your Witcher ID. You can also enter other players' IDs. Doing so lets you send packages to one another, which act much like Pokemon Go's gifts system.
These packages can contain things like monster remains, herbs, roots, and more. In essence, having friends means that you can trade free materials back and forth. Even if you don't like 'em or know them, it's worth it just for that.
As with Pokemon Go, you might be best off heading to some internet forums or Reddit to find friends.
Use Your Map To Find Monsters
The whole point of The Witcher: Monster Slayer is slaying monsters — it's in the name. You get 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:XP to level up 🔜that nets you rewards while you pad out the bestiary which — you guessed it — leads to more 🤡rewards.
However, monsters might not be in your immediate vicinity when you log on, and you don't want to aimlessly walk about hoping to bump into one. Rather, click the wolf school medallion icon located at the bottom of your screen to activate your witcher senses and take a look at your map. You can filter by common, rare, legendary, and all types. The red circles represent hot spots for monsters. You want to head to these red circles in particular as that's where you'll find the best action.
Don't Waste Oil, Potions, And Bombs On Easy Enemies
As stated earlier, you don't want to waste resources on Basic bombs because you don't want to waste bombs or any craftable item, period. Not only do they cost resources, crafting items is time-consuming. The other alternative is attaining them instantly with gold in the shop, which can't be recommended either as coin isn't an abundant commodity in the witcher profession. If you don't have a diverse set of supplies on hand, the fights will only be more difficult when you run into monsters that out-level you, due to your lack of preparation. Every good witcher worth their salt needs to prepare with an arsenal of brews.
Try fighting an enemy first before you attempt it with bombs, oils, and potions. This harkens back to knowing your enemy and studying their patterns before you rush in blindly. On the contrary, you might find the right blade is enough. If brute strength doesn't hold up, — as it often won't be — bring those into the fold.
Monsters don't disappear if they beat you so don't be scared to experiment. Easy enemies might take a couple of tries to get your blade work down, but you likely won't need anything other than the sword for them. Just as seen in The Witcher 3, red skulls mark the more difficult enemies and you'll face boss monsters in quests so be extra sure you have saved up enough of your resources for them.
Keep An Eye Out For Bushes
While you're wandering around doing quests and finding monsters to skewer, don't forget to keep an eye out for bushes. As seen pictured above, these don't exactly pop out on the screen. However, you'll harvest valuable crafting materials by interacting with them. Sometimes, it's worth taking a detour just for them if they're only a couple of blocks away.
Craft Oils
Bombs will help in a pinch, but oils are important too. Like all craftable items, their production takes time as stated earlier so you need to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:make oils in advance.
Oils are made with monster parts among other crafting materials and they increase your damage against certain monsters. For instance, the N🌃ecrophage oil will ensure you dole out 100 percent more melee damage to Necrophages♓.
You won't know what you're going to run into on any given day around every turn, so it's best to stock up before you head out, and nail down an efficient cycle of gathering and crafting during your daily adventures. Otherwise, you could be waiting as long as 30 minutes and the monster might disappear by the time your crafting's complete, so ensure you're always stockpiling oils for the tougher enemies.
