As the player trudged their way from room to room, fast reflexes and combination will be the game-changer going forward in the indie roguelike Wizard of Legend. Unfortunately, pure skill ꦍjust isn't enough to push through some of the more challenging levels, especially when the wizard starts to march towards the endgame.

Unlike regular items that will give you a little boost at no extra charge, cursed relics offer a much more bang for your buck. The downside is you'll have to pay a steep fee by letting it weaken you in some form. Depending on what attributes you use the most will dictate the items that work for you. Some do stand out for either being especially useful to most players or utterly useless, so caution is advised before equipping them. Without further delay, these are the five best and five worst cursed items in Wizard of Legend.

10 🅘 BEST: Tiny Crocodile Heart🥂

In the early game, this item is most useful. Halving your m💜aximum health but if you have a solid defence🍌 the reward is so much sweeter. Every enemy you kill will add 5 health your maximum and if players manage to kill enough it will quickly be much larger than your original health bar.

As the game progresses, it will gradually lose effectiveness as the deficit gets too big to make up for with enemies. Any stage with quantity over quali🍌ty or a low-level character will benefit greatly. Oncꦺe it hits half of its maximum effectiveness, the effects cancel itself out, thus making it entirely positive.

9 WORST: Overpriced Insu🍎rance

While it does provide some🅠 use, Overpriced Insurance does have one of the worst trade-offs in the game: Sacrificing your gold at the beginning of a stage only to be healed at half the rate. Any hopes of saving your money are dashed out the window💃 for a half-hearted heal.

Unless players manage to rake in high income every stage, this curse will bring them to their knees. Only being able to us📖e one stage's worth of gold𝓡 every time makes for a rocky road to victory.

8 💞 BEST: Alchemist Stone 🌼

On the flip side, 𝓀the Alchemist's Stone becomes more valuable as the game progresses. This relic will transmute any chaos gems you come across into gold. While at the starting line this would impede players' ability to buy the much-needed relics and arcana needed.

Towards the end when🍬 you have unlocked all the required items, gold becomes king. In the trials, you'll need to have all the gold you can get to put some lethal item combinations💮 together. Seeing as you can only take one of each into the trial, you'll have to bulk up the inventory mid-game.

7 🧸 WORST: Tortoise Shield 💜

Though cursedꦚ items are supposed to tempt the player with great benefit in exchange for a downside, Tortoise Shield doesn't do much of either. It just adds a little defense in exchange for mildly weakening a player's damage output.

Tortoise Shield isn't especially bad seeing as it only takes away 16% of your damage, but it's even less appealing because it gives you a 12% uptake in defense. If there'ꦰs anything worse than notoriety, it's not being noticed in the first ﷽place.

6 BEST: Glass Cannon 🏅

The penalty fo♛r the use of this item is nothing to sneeze at, as you have to ✨give up 30% of your maximum health. The 20% jump in damage dealt is a big up and adds a considerable element to the player's game.

Even when the downside is a steep price to p𝔉ay, if you use a health artifact in combination, you can easily mitigate or completely cancel out the ill effect. Everyone can always use more damage, even for the sake of saving time.

5 WওORST: Ominous Loan Note ✨

A bad version of a loan shark, Omin⭕ous Loan Note will give you 250 gold for 🅠a tasty interest rate that you'll have to pay back by the level. If you don't take a considerable chunk out your debt in a few levels, interest stacks up pretty quickly.

This is the prime example of short te🦋rm thinking, the only reason a player would use this relic is if money's tight. Unless they stumble across a large sum, this will end up being much more trouble than it's worth.

4 BEST: Double Trouble ✱

This relic will only work for the evasive among us, granting doubl♋e the damage for double the vulnerability🌄. If players can manage to avoid the hits then they'll have free reign to cause as much destruction as possible.

The real benefit is in the combination of i♛tems, leaဣving an open door for another ramp in damage that will leave your enemies defenseless. Players that have a high evasion rate can really lean into it with little regard to the increase in vulnerability.

3 WORST: Co🔯nga Drum Set

When an item's effect has random in the description its seldom a good sign. The lack of ൲reliability is a massive downfall that can really let the player down in a time of need. Especially when characters have to pay the price of slow recovery for their trouble.

RELATED:

The random appearance of explosive barrels just isn't a big enough perk to crawl through the recovery period. Tricky opponents that have a high rate of attack will be a weakness, especial✱ly if they can deal significant damage. All players have to show for it is some random explosions.

2 ౠ BEST: Crimson Clover

Critical hit is an especially tricky stat, making it as reliable as possible is the only way to factor it into the෴ game. C🔯rimson Clover does just that, it increases the chances by 15% for both the player and their enemies. While extra damage is always handy, it's most effective with a high defense.

If you combine this with a Puffy Parka then it lets you evade all your enemies' critical shots. Erasing the only downside that comes with the item is precisely why it ranks among the best. Players will be following thei♋r usual game plan while ad𓆉ding big damage hits to the repertoire

1 🌳 WORST: Graduation Bouquet

While relic🦄 drops are a welcome surprise when defeating an enemy or opening a chest, it isn't enough of a reward to sacrifice half the gold for. You could just use the gold that gets taken away to purchase a relic of your choice anyway.

A player's gold supply is a key part of the game and restricting it in any way has to come with a pretty goodꩵ reason. The other graduation relics don't stack in power either, leaving the character penniless and hoping for a chance relic that might be useful to them.
