10 🐼The Good: The Amazing Community
If there's one thing us Vanilla-nostalgics have the fondest 𒐪memories of, it's the amazing social experience we had playing the original game. The sense of a close-knit, passionate community was all but demolished by the ꦛlater expansions' additions of features like LFR.
Back then, you really had to wander out into the world to find other players of your levels before bravely marching on into a fearsome dungeon. Communication was an integral and invaluable part of the Vanilla WoW gameplay experience, as people had to discuss strategies, find the 🙈right𒅌 members for their party, and exchange items and consumables.
9 💛 🌜 The Bad: The Endless Queues
Oh, the queues. Nobody, least of all Blizzard, expected🌃 every single English realm to be overcrowded by nostalgia-crazed fans creating new characters. Yet, this is indeed the current state of Classic.
✱In the first days of its release, numbers showed upwards ജof 15,000 people waiting in queue for their turn to play the game. And we'll have to deal with it at least until the whole hype dies down a little bit.
8 The Good: The Sense 🎉of Achievement✅ in Leveling
Forget the absent-minded questing and pulling heaps of mobs for experience that we now have in BFA. In WoW: Classic, as was the case in the old Vanilla, levels 🍰represent꧒ important milestones that are both difficult and rewarding to accomplish.
There are no map indications for quests or quest-help features to hold your hand while you leve𝔉l. You have to figure it out all on your own (unless you use an addon, of course), while the strong (and exciting) sense of vulnerability constantly follows you throughout the open world.
Gone are the weak mobs that you can one-shot, replaced with real threats that will easily kill you if you're not careful. But this is what made the game so great and so very real. And while leveling will take longer in Classic, the sense of achievement it crea🌌tes in the game is definitely worth it.
7 🎉 The ꦅBad: The Aged Visuals
You knew this one was coming. It's a 15-year old game, for Pete's sake. And while many nostalgic players will absolutely love the homey feeling of returning to WoW just as it was when they first started playing it, many will be disappointed by how bad things actually were 15 years ago. Keep in mind, WoW was actually a൲ graphically decent🐭 online game for that period.
That's why, as you may know, Blizzard decided to offer♌ players the ability to dial up their graphics settings and make the visuals more bearable. But, they also incorporated a "Classic" button that makes the game look just as it did back then.
There's one more thing you will notice playing Classic: the game greatly evolved through time in terms of the quality of their cinematics, cut-scenes, and the way it delivers quests. This lack of eye-candy in Classic is something that we'll justꦗ have to push through this time.
6 ꦏ The Good: The Low-Level Instances 🍒
As leveling is longer and the world more daunting, in WoW: Classic you will have to team up with other players and take on multiple dungeons in hopes of attaining more experience and b🌱etter gear. This will then give you that welcome boost🌃 in questing.
However, in modern WoW expansions, low-level instances are all but overlooked, while in reality, they provide that necessary social ingredient that made the Vanilla exper൩ience, from leဣvel 1 to 60, so consistently entertaining.
5 𒆙 The Bad: The Cumbersome Questing
There are two sides to this coin. Yes, longer and more demanding questing arguably makes the game more engaging and social. But, this also means you will have a long and disappointing grind to get to max level (especially if you're returning from BFA).
Mobs also take significantly longer to respawn in Classic than you're probably used to. And considering how most of the Classic servers are already overpopulated, your leveling experience might 🌄be nothing sho🙈rt of dreadful at the start.
4 𓄧 The Good: The Amazing Old Tale🔥nt Trees
In Classic, each level awards 1 talent point to be spent on any chosen talent.𓃲 By the time players hit level 60, talent combinations become almost endless and players have truly personalized tal♕ent trees created according to their play style.
Then there's the fact that you can combine specializations, which is done by putting talent points in not just one but multiple different specializations. This is impossible in modern WoW and something we're truly looking forward to having back in Classic.
3 The Bad: The Limited Viability of ꦺClassไes and Specs for Raiding
Let's explain this one. Classic offers far fewer class and race combinations, but that's not all. Opting for a certain 𓄧class will also forever bind you to that class' optimal specialization when it comes to endgame content. For example, if 🅰you choose to play a Mage, you will mostly be asked to play Frost in raids and dungeons. Choosing a Druid or a Priest will generally mean you will be a healer, despite both of these being hybrid classes with available damage specializations.
Then there's the issue 🎃of preferred classes for each role. For example, the main tank will always have to be a Warrior, as they're hands down the best and most reliable at the job. Players bothered by this can try to become exceptionally good at their specialization and earn themselves a spot in a raid nonetheless, but thi🎐s is unfortunately not going to be possible for many.
2 🐓 The Good: A Daunting and Exciting Open World
Azeroth in BFA is larger than in all previous expansi♕ons. And yet it feels smaller than it has ever been. The reason is simple. Swift flying m🧜ounts and portals nowadays make traveling to the opposite corner of Azeroth possible in a matter of seconds. And no potential threat obstructs your path from one end of the continent to the other. It's almost... effortless.
Vanilla fought this better than any other expansion, as the world it features, albeit small, is packed with daunting areas that keep every adventurer on their toes. This ties in with the fact that players can more easily die, and long, annoying corpse runs make dying itself more impactful in Classic. Now, many new (or returning) players may actually hate this feature, but it's definitely a part of what makes Classic so addictive.

A clear benefit of the newer WoW expansions lies in the amount of cr𒉰eativity Blizzard had to put into them to keep players engaged. That's how the n🙈ew interesting endgame content was born, such as PvP events, pet-battles, Mythic+ dungeons, daily quests, etc.
Unfortunately, we won't be seeing any of these in WoW: Classic, and it's one of the things that a lot of WoW fans will truly miss from the new expansions. As great as Classic is, this leaves the WoW Classic raider with only two options: travel around the world and socialize, or wait for a raid. A s♒hame, really.
