After 13 years at Blizzard working on Worꦕld of Warcraft, Chris Kaleiki has quit. The designer posted a 15-minute video to YouTube explaining their decision.

Chris Kaleiki has spent the past 13 years working on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:World of Warcraft and had a hand in many facets of the game, including class design for the monk (among others), the PvP zone Ashran, parts of the upcoming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shadowlands expansion, and more.

Kaleiki began by explaining their background at Blizzard before going on to say, "For a while now, probably too long, I've just been unhappy with the state of the game." Kaleiki goes on to explain that with the release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:World of Warcraft: Classic they were able to "figure out why".

WoW: Shado🍃wlands Launch Trailer Perfectly Captures The Expansions Four Covenants

"You know in Classic,🍒 the vision of the game is clear," Kal🅠eiki said before admitting that they feel the modern game's vision is "a little muddled".

They argued that reducing the importance of guilds and making the game more apprౠoachable to solo play had trade-offs. The game did become more fun for solo players and made content accessible to a wider range of players as a result, but at the cost of sacrificing community and social player interaction - the beating heart of an MMO.

"I feel like we should be focusing o🎐n features that really an MMO can only do," Kaleiki said.

Kaleiki went on to reaffirm their love for Blizzard, even though they "think it's a very different company than it w🍬as thirteen years ago". They also expressed their love for World of Warcraft and insisted they will be playing the new expansion at launch and cant wait to play it with everyone. They believe Shadowlands will be a h🅘uge success.

Whilst Kaleiki doesn't have any new projects lined up, they are exploring their options and hope to work on making huge virtual worlds in the future. "I think some people say that virtual worlds are sort of over, and that games now are more about like battle-royals or mobile projects, or whatever that is," said the designer. "But I think that's totally wrong, I think the real world sucks in a lot of ways and these virtual worlds we create are so amazing and are going to become more increasingly essential to our lives in the future. So if the future is goin☂g to be virtual worlds, that's what I want to be a part of."
