World of Warcraft’slargest major patch -Tides of Vengeance- is available now, andthat is finally useable after having 🔯actually been in the game as a recipe sinceWorld of Warcraft’srelease over fourteen years ago.

The potion,﷽ known as the “Elixir of Tongues,” grants players the ability to understand players of the opposing faction in chat for🐠 one hour. The potion can be purchased from NPC vendor Fizzi Liverzapper, located in the Underbelly of Dalaran.

According to a fromWorld of Warcraftgame designer, Jeremy Feasel, the recipe for the Elixir of Tongues has actually been in the game sin𒉰ce Classic was released in 2014, but was never realized as an item untilWoW’srecent hotfix.

“Fun fact: the Elixir of Tongues has been in the game since Classic, an ancient al𝐆chemy recipe that never made it. Until today, it had the description text 'This potion has no effect until we put ▨languages in.'”

For those unfamiliar withWorld of Warcraft’sin-game chat, players of opposing factions are unable to understand one another, the text displaying in the chat window as an incoherent collection of random letters. Technically, the Elixir of Tongues only allows players to understand - not speak - the opposing faction’s language. If two players from opposing factions wish to have a coherent conversation, both will need to have used the potion at♓ the same time.

The cost of the potꦰion is 30 gold, wh𝕴ich many within the roleplaying server community are. To their credit, the﷽ c💛reation of the potion is essentially in response to the fact that theTides of Vengeancepatch unintentionally brꦇoke the Cross RP add-on, which manyWoWroleplayers utilized. What was once free💞, now costs 30 gold for only one hour at a👍 time. Players will need to choose their words wisely (and at the right time) if they want to banter back and forth with the opposing faction.

The fact that the Elixir of Tongues can be purchased from a vendor in Dalaran makes sense, considering the city is neutral groun♏d between the Horde and Alliance. Although some may consider the potion to be a little pricey, the addition is ultimately a good thing that all playꦅers - including those outside of the roleplaying realms - can take advantage of and have fun with.
