This is kind of hard topic to discuss. With more and more remasters releasing every year, it’s hard to parse through them all at times. Some are be😼tter through improvements while some turn out worse. Some games just don’t hold up in general with nostalgia playi🐬ng a big role in it all.
The point is while some of these games were well reviewed, their launch, or popular opinion may be salted in one way or another. Each entry will go through what makes these ten remasters stick out and why, even if they had problems, may still be worth seeking past the controve🃏rsy.
10 Halo: The Master Chief Collection
The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Halo: The Master Chief Collection got good reviews when it came out. However, a lot of these reviews were optimistic that some of these issues would get fixed. However, following the 11/11/14 launch, it continued to be plagued with online issues. They were consistently so bad that Microsoft put out a statement on 12/19 giving players Halo 3: ODST,❀ a month of Xbox Live Gold, and a Halo avatar for free to try and make up the debacle. It still t🉐ook years to really make it click.
9 Super Mario 3D All-Stars
Similarly, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario 3D All-Stars got good reviews on Metacritic as well. However, the fan base was not pleased when this collection was announced. One was the fact that Nintendo didn’t do much to actually remaster these games properly especially Super Mario 64. The other big issue was the $60 price tag on top of that reason plus fans were saddened by the exclusion of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
8 Resident Evil 0: HD Remaster
The original GameCube release got higher reviews than the 60s to 70s this remaster got on Metacritic. When it comes to remaking games, Capcom is usually the master at it. Just look at what they did for the first game to the GameCube and then the second and third remakes on PS4 and Xbox One. The problems that plagued 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil 0, like the item management, still persist🌳ed ꦗwith this release.
7 Silent Hill HD Collection
Silent Hill 2 is often cited as the pinnacle release for the series. Its sequel was also noteworthy at the time. However, this HD collection didn’t do too hot b💙ecause fans thought it was rushed.
It was glitchy, the voices were changed, and the biggest issue players had was the constant fog effect. It was a travesty for Silent Hill fans.
6 Devil May Cry HD Collection
Similarly to the Silent Hill collection, the Devil May Cry series also got a subpar celebration on the PS3. It averaged around the same scores, in the 70s which isn’t terrible. However, the collection centered in this entry is actually on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the PS4 version which did not review well. That’s because it was just💫 a straight port from PS3 to PS4, but somehow it ran worse.
5 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles:ܫ Remastered Edition
There is a litany of reasons why this remaster was both dogged by fans and reviewers alike. The biggest reason is Square Enix getting rid of local multiplayer. The online multiplayer does work well, however, it is very limited on options. Basically the developers didn’t do much to 𝐆improve upon the original’s faults along with taking out features which bewildered all.🌳
4 Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD
The new Tony Hawk collection is reviewing very well and fans seem to dig it. However, this was not the first time Activision released an HD version of the original. There was a digital only edition for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the PS3 generation of consoles. It was not reviewed well because, as is echoed with many of the♛se entries, the gamཧe wasn’t improved upon and sort of just shipped out with a shrug.
3 Crysis Remastered
Crysis was a game that, when released, tested the very boundaries of PC gaming. If a computer couldn’t run Crysis, is was worthless. It was highlight regarded as a masterpiece with a 91 on Metacr♔itic.
It seems like this game was of the moment because the remaster was not as well received. The very gameplay of the genre has evolved so much since this first launch pl🌟us it no longer looks as stunning.
2 PaRappa The Rapper Remastered
PaRappa the Rapper was also a game of its time. The music genre was just blossoming so a rhythmic, anime inspired game was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cool on PS1. While the core idea of the game is s꧅till good because of the door music, it had a bad integration with HD TVs making it harder to play in this remaster. The short length also di💫dn’t help although the price seemed right.
1 Secret Of Mana
Square Enix, like Capcom, can really make some fantastic remakes. One of their most beloved games on the SNES is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Secret of Mana so when th🔯is remake was announced, there was hype. However, as a PS4 game, it seemed more relegated to h🌱andheld hardware. It was cheap from the graphics to the voice over and actual lip flaps. It didn’t modernize the combat either which did not hold up as well altogether. It was disappointing to say the least.
