At the very end, you will encount🤡er the woman she had constructed to be the perfect bride for her son, a woman torn from hౠer family and left with nothing but feelings of rage and a body not entirely her own. Though she puts up a fight, it is up to you to put her down. It is a mercy at this point.

Preparation For Fang Ling

Reading a note about sisters in the shaft area in wuchang: fallen feathers.

Before you enter the arena to fight Fang Ling, take the Old Storyteller's advice. Greed will be your end, so don't just go dashing ahead. Walking onto the bridge will have it collapse underneath you, sending you right into the battle. Make sure to activate the shortcut elevator back to the shine first so that ﷽you don't have to run through the entire area again on your way to the boss.

And for a little extra help for yourself, make sure to send the lift back up after getting off to save you some time. You know, in case you di🌜e.

Beyond that, it can be worth investing in some good skills and pendants in advance. In Fang Ling's first phase, the vast majority of her moves can be deflected, and this will instantly cancel her combos and knock her off balance, so try to get a weapon capable of deflec൲tion before heading into the fight.

She also has the ability to let out a roar that causes you to flinch. This can be devastating if you're caught in it, so equip the Dracolich Pendant to remove the ability to be flinched by roars entirely. That sa♋id, if you're confident in your ability to dodge the roar instead, you can equip something more suitable to your playstyle instead.

Thankfully, any weapon can work here, with both phases having plenty of downtime between attacks. That said, Burn and Fire are still the most effective status effects and elements to use, so e🔴quip Fire to your Tempering Needle and bring along any Fire weapons you may have to double up on that damage.

Fang Ling's Strengths And Weaknesses

Fang Lin lying defeated in wuchang: fallen feathers.

When battling Fang Ling, it is important to note that the majority of the damage she deals is physical, with a bit of magicꦯ and fire on the side. She can, however, deal a massive amount of Poiౠse Break build-up, so do your best to dodge her attacks, or raise your Poise Break resistance as much as possible.

In terms of her own weaknesses, the most significant would be her weakness to Fire, which deals a healthy amount of damage and Burn can also increase the damage you deal to her from all other sources, too. Burning Flames is an incredible Spell in this regard as it is capable of building uꦿp the Burn status effect incredibly quickly.

In her first phase, deflection is your best friend. Deflecting any of her attacks will almost always cancel the entire combo string, saving you from many of her more powerful attacks. This does not a💮pply in her second phase however, so don't become too reliant 🍷on deflection since it is useless in the second phase.

Perfect Bride And Chimera - Fang Ling's Moveset

The chimera form of Fang Ling roaring in wuchang fallen feathers.

Fang Ling is split across two phases, and both of them have distinct health bars. They are functionally two completely different bosses with basically no shared moves, so you will have to use different ꦑmethods to face them. Here is the entire movelist for both phases:

  • Phase One - Perfect Bride

    Attack

    Description

    Counter

    Hanging Projectiles

♒Fang Ling will open with this move, firing a series of projectiles. If one hits, she will slam down on your from her hanging place.

This are fairly easy to dodge, though if you are hit, prepare to dodge again as she 🍎will chase you if a single projectile hits youꩲ.

    Roar

The snake on Fangಌ Ling's back will rise up and let out a roar, triggering a short-range blast that cause🔯s you to flinch.

If you see the snake head rearing up, just get♑ your distance. You can also dodge the beg♑inning of the roar to avoid the flinch effect entirely.

    Fire Beam

The sn🅠ake on 🦋Ling's back rears up and lets loose a fire beam in a straight line.

This attack is relatively short, though if can be a great chance to unleash a Charged Heavy on Ling's back if you♔'re near her during 🍃this attack.

    Slash Combo

This i🍨s Ling's regular combo, where she can perform up to three slashes.

T♚hese attacks are fairly slow, making them easy to dodge or deflection. Deflection is better as it cancels the attack entirely.

    Arm Stabs

Fang Ling, while at a distance from you, will stꦓab forward with her arms one at a time. Her left arm can strike🔯 further.

Both of these attacks can be deflected, though be wary of her second attack, whichও has a much further range than the first one.

    Whirlwind Slash

Ling will l♒eap towards you while spinning with her swords. These attacks deal high 🌳damage and case Poise Break build-up.

This attack can be deflected, but is the only one that will not cancel the combo. As such, it can be better to d⛎odge this one instead.

    Deflection

Ling can also deflect you if you attack while she isn't in the middle of an animation. She follows thiꦆs up with a Dash Stab.

If you are also deflecting, this is a great opportun༒ity to bait Li💛ng into attacking you so you can get an easy deflection off.

    Spinning Slashes

Ling will perform a series of spinnin༺g slashes as she advances towards yo🅠u.

Unlike the Whꦫirlwind S💙lash, this attack can and should be deflected.

    Dash Stab

While a🐈t a distance or after a Deflection, Ling will dash forward quickly with a highl🌼y-damaging stab.

Onc🌊e again, this can be deflected. It does strike quite quickly though, so it may take some time to get used to the timing.

  • Phase Two - Chimera

    Attack

    Description

    Counter

    Roar

A roar just like in t♈he first phase, though over a much wid🐼er area.

And 🥀just like the first phase, you can dodge at the🤪 moment of the roar to avoid the flinch effect entirely.

    Slither Dash

The Chimera will dash across the area very quickly for massive damage. This can occur multiple times in a 🔯row.

For this one, you'll want to keep a little 𝓡distance from the boss. If you see them being still for a little too long, then they are likely preparing to dash. Dodge it.

    Fire Beam Arc

The Chimera will unleash a beam of fi🌌re from one꧅ side of the area to the other, and then back again.

This attack is easily dodged, and is long enough to give you time to get close🐠 to the boss to deal some damage.

    Arm Slams

The boss will begin chasing you, slamming down w🧸ith each arm before a third slam with both arms at once.

These attacks 🅘should be dodged into so that you can stay close o the boss.

    Tail Spin

The boss wiಞll spin in place quickly with their tail, pushing you a𓄧way if you are hit. This can be preceded by Arm Swipes.

Try to keep a close eye on t꧅he boss' body movements✃ so you can tell when this move is about to be performed. Being in front of them gives you a bit more time to react to this move.

    Bite

The boss bites ahead of them. Ca🎀n be performed multiple𝓰 times in a row.

Nice and easy to just dodge this one.

    Arm Swipes

The boss will swipe fairly quicklyꦑ with their arms. This can also b🥀e followed up with a quick Tail Spin.

Tr🍌y to stay close to the boss while dodging, keeping to the front so you can closely follow the attacks.

    Fire Breath

The boss breathes fire directly in front of🍸 itself, causing the fire to spread ahead of them and quickly explode.

This attacks to the front, so try to get to the boss' sideꩲ or rear to🐎 deal some damage.

    Grand Slam

Typically used when you're far away from the boss, they will leap into the air and slam down on top of you. Can sometimesꦦ be used right after a Slither Dash.

This attack isn't too hard to 🌊dodge, though be wary in case the boss quickly follows up the slam with a Tail Spin.

    Comets

The boss shoots its fire beam into the air, causing comets to crash down in 🌼the area for a few seconds. These deal decent damag💯e.

The boss' other moves will d𒆙eal more damage than the comets, so try t🧸o focus on them over the comets if you have to. Ideally, try to avoid both.

    Fire Ring

Like with their Tail Spin, the Chimera will quickly spin in pla🔯ce while breathing a ring of fire around itself.

Staying close can help you avoid the fire ring, tho🌟ugh i🦩t is typically safer to keep your distance instead.

Deflection is the path to winning during the first phase, while dodging will bring you closer to victory in the second. However, Fire and Burn are just as effective in both phases, letting you effective൩ly keep th꧟e same equipment across both phases to see your way to the end of the battle.

How To Beat Perfect Bride And Chimera - Fang Ling

The Battle

During the first phase, deflection will make the fight so much easier. It is far from necessary, though it really helps since you can easily knock back Ling after a deflection, letting you deal massive damage very quickly. However, you cannot use deflection at all in the second phase, so make sure your weapon is still a good raw damage-dealer.

Poise Break is one of the deadliest effects in the first phase as it deals a massive chunk of damage when it's applied, as well as briefly staggering you. Poise Break still builds up even if you block an attack, so dodg𝕴e if you're not confident in your ability to deflect an attack.

In the second phase, the Chimera is much larger, and that size can make it much harder to actually see the moves it's using. As such, it c🥃an help to keep your distance every now and then, especially while you're learning its moves. In general, it also attacks much more suddenly than you might expect, turning around in an instant in a way that doesn't quite look natural. Don't underestimate its speed.

Finally, Alacrity is an incredible passive to have here. If you're not sure if you can dodge or deflect an attack, spells that support Alacrity tend to give you a much wider window of invulnerability, letting you avoid damage with more confide🐼✅nce, all the while building up Skyborn Might and dealing damage.t

The Rewards

After defeating Fang Ling and her monstrous form, you are given a few rewards. These are the following - the Shu Silk Fan, which can be given to Tao Qing to unlock new items for purchase. You also get the Bitter Severance Dual Blades, the same weapons used by Fang Ling. Next is the Echo of Fang Ling Spell.

Finally, you are given the Jade Ancient Chisel, which allows you to activate th😼e Benediction menu from anywhere, not just the shrine me꧂nu.
