Talk about a heel turn moment. Not a weird take on PUBG, this arcade focused wrestling title hearkens 🐽back to something like from 2011.
In a short teaser, we see wrestling legend John Cena face off against an alligator. No, I didn't just make that up to get you to click this stoꦐry. 2K is taking these champions in a weird direction and I'm all for the shift in tone. This is the kind of absurdity that has been missing from sports games for a long time.
I'm not sure if I care for the art style, but this does look promising. The only real problem would be that 2K tends to not give side projects like this the budget they need. Look no further than NBA 2K Playgrounds. While the sequel improved on the first title's deficiencies, it's still not what I'd call a suitable replacement for the lack of NBA Jam in our lives.
Still, if WWE 2K Battlegrounds can usher in a new era of arcade sports ti💯tles, then I say we give it a chance.
