We are only on the first day the year and already WWE 2k20 is having a bad time of it. Anyone thinking of easing their pounding head with a few rounds of digital wrestling is going to need to rethink those plans, since it appe🙈ars the game has been hit by a 𒀰Y2K style bug.

For those of us old enough to remember entering the new millenium, there was much panic about the effect on technology when the calendar inevitably ticked over from 1999 to 2000. While time, effort and money were spent to rectify these issues it seems that the WWE 2k20 developers didn't take heed of the issues.

Reports over on Reddit began to surface as parts of the US hit midnight last night. It seems that a similar bug has kicked in, with the game unable to run if it detects a console or PC date contains the year 2020. Quite🔥 ironic for a game named after this very year.

The is full of players showing how the ga♑me simply crashes when trying to select most of its game modes.

The game has already received les൩s than stellar reviews, with the PS4 version racking up a metasco♚re of 42 and an even worse score of just 1.4 from gamers. It's also been victim to a public slating across social media, with gamers criticizing almost everything about it.

For such a large franchise this problem is a big issue. Luckily, for PS4 and PC players at least, it does have a in the form of setting your console or computer's calendar to a date in 2019 and then forc🌺ing a reset of the game, thus tricking the game into thinking it's still last year. However, Xbox One users will be unable to𓂃 do this and will need to wait for a patch.

Over on 2K's Twitter, they have addressed the comments simply by saying that they are "working towards 🔥a solꦺution."

There is currently no estimated timeline for a fix, nor any word as to how something so fundamentally g꧑ame-bre🍨aking managed to bypass the developer's attention.

After the game was dragged on social media for being "unplayable" it seems that this year the game has now truly lived up ♍to that label. Here's hoping fans can get back into the ring soon.
