The series has always been a divisive franchise. While many gamers dꦗon’t enjoy the series for several reasons, there are gamers that just like fans of the or series that will buy it every year without fail for love of the sport.
However, after the catastrophic failure and PR nightmare that was WWE 2K20, the developers are taking a year off to hopefully work on a better product. After the former developers at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yukes moved on from the series, it was left to 2K’s own in-house studio take reigns. Unfortunately, the team seemed to lack the understanding of what a w♒restling fan wants from a game and even went as far stripping away many of its systems.
There won’t be a WWE 2K21 this year - 2K is releasing 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WWE 2K Battlegrounds instead - but the developers have asked for fan feedback to help create a better game when WWE 2K22 eventually hits the shelv🐎es. Let’s take a look at 10 things they can do to save t💫he franchise.
10 ♐ No More Non-Wrestling DLC
The and professional wrestling, in general, is a very physical performance art that is about as theatrical as it gets. Its fans are completely wise to this fact but that doesn’t stop them from enjoying it purely for escapism purposes and the ability to suspend their disbelieꦯf.
This is why 2K and Visual Concepts were way off the mark when they thought that replacing Legends or upcoming NXT stars with its silly cartoonish Originals DLC was a good idea. The Originals was quite possibly the worst content in a wrestling game since 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game.
9 𝓡 Match Development 🌺
One of the things that make some of the best wrestling games like Fire Pro Wrestling and WWF No Mercy stand out from other combat based games is its match development.🐬 Matches start slowly with 💖smaller moves and build up to the bigger ones.
However, in many of the WWE 2K games, it is far too easy to simply keep spamming the same moves over and over and hit big moves as soon as the match starts. Visual Concepts will need to look to games like Fire Pro and how it lets players work a match fr꧂om the beginning to end to see why it has such a cult following among fans.
8 Move Cre🍃atio🐠n
A feature that would keep wrestling game fans coming back is the ability to create one’s own moves to customize their wrestlers to their liking, mimic෴king any new moves that the peꦬrformers are adding to their repertoire.
While this sounds like a complicated request, Fire Pro Wrestling World will be adding its own version called Move Craft in an upcoming DLC pack. However,☂ many gamers have already been able to modify moves on the PC version with some incredible results.
7 A Substant𒉰ial Legendဣs Roster
One of the biggest letdowns for WWE 2K20 was how many Legends that were cut back from the roster compared to WWE 2K19. It seems that when Visual Concepts took ov꧅er from Yukes they underestimated how much long time fans would lament their absence.
Instead, they removed more Legends characters in favor of silly DLC packs and duplicate wrestlers from different eras with slightly different attires. Having wrestlers like Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan is great but not having superstars like Mr. Perfect, British Bulldog, or Rick Rude to match them against was hugely disapp🤪ointing.
6 𝔉 A General Manager Mode 𒉰
One of the most requested features from fans the WWE wrestling series is the return of the General Manager mode. It has been nearly ten years since it was featured in a WWE gam𝐆e and it was replaced with the Universe mode.
Fans of the franchise have been ignored long enough and finally listening to them would go a long way in improving the fans' faith in the series and the developers. A GM mode of sorts called Fire Promoter was added to Fire Pro Wrestling World and it is easily one most popular features in t💜he game.
5 ♎ Customizable A.I 🐎
Customizable artificial intelligence or “wrestler logic” is another feature in Fire Pro Wrestling that would be a huge benefit to the WWE 2K franchise and its fans. The tools to create realistic and accurate looking custom wrestlers are great, but all that goes out the window if they don’t behave like the real thing♏. Adjusting a ꧟wrestler's logic allows players to make their wrestlers perform and behave exactly as they are expected to.
Furthermore, great artificial intelligence also means that players will get a more authentic wrestling experience that will feel more like they are playing against a human being rather than a bot. Despite Fire Pro not having the advanced visuals that the WWE 2K series has, the A.I. is on another level.
4 ❀A Better Reversal System
WWF No Mercy and other wrestling games developed by AKI arguably have the best reversal system in any wrestling game. It’s a꧅ system that is simple to pull off and allows players to counter strikes and grapples with a well-timed button press.
Furthermore, the mechanics allow players reverse counters and counter reversals, it’s an exciting system that allows for back and forth matches that are fun, unpredictable, and technical. It’s a system that the WWE 2K series s๊hould implement in place of the flawed system💞 they have now.
3 𒆙 Improved Submission Mechanics
The submission system in the WWE 2K series has always been one of its weaker elements. While the series does allow players a choice between button mashing or usꦫing a timing-based mini-game, neither are well ♌executed.
The WWE 2K series should implement a system that allows players to escape holds either with rope escapes or a reversal system. Both the Fire Pro series and the AKI-developed wrestling games on the Nintendo 64 have their own unique system based on button mashing and timing both of which work better than the WWE 2K mini-game mechanics.
2 ❀ Custom Music
In addition to the General Manager Mode, another feature that has been missing from the series since the PS3/Xbox 360 days is the ability to add one’s own musicไ to a wrestler’s introduction. ♒It’s a powerful tool that lets players feel like they can properly customize their wrestlers.
In addition, being able to add custom music tracks will also help make up for wrestlers that aren’t included on the roster. There doesn’t seem to be any good reason why custom soundtracks have been removed from the series and modern consoles are certainly capable of it as proven in Fire Pro Wrestling World.
1 A New Engine 🔯
With the developers giving themselves an extra year to work on the entry in the franchise, now is a good time as any to give fans a new gaming engine. The WWE 2K series has been using what feels and looks like the same gaming engine since the Smackdown! days.
Introducing a new engine should hopefully give the developers the power to implement better wrestling mechanics that better resemble the product on television. In addition, it could give the developers more power to create a more original ♈product that feels different from its predecessors.
