10 T🃏ecmo World Wrestling ไ

Released in 1989 for the NES, Tecmo World Wrestling is a surprisi🐟ngly complex wrestling title that was way ahead of its time despite the limitations of the 8-Bit console. It waꦺs the first game to feature play-by-play commentary albeit in text form and action replays.

The wrestlers have more 20 moves each, which was unheard of at the time, and the action💙 developed over time like an actual wrestling match. Another nice touch was the ability to train a chosen wrestler in the gym before matches as t💯he player progresses through a career mode.

9 🌳 𝓀 WCW Vs. The World

When wrestling game fans think of the AKI series they usually think that the series began on the Nintendo 64 with WCW vs. nWo World Tour. However, the series actually began on the PlayStation in 1996 WCW vs. The World and features many of the same wrestling mechanics that made the series famo🅠us.

The AKI system is a slightly more simplified in this PS1 release but the ability to have good, drawn-out, back and forth matches. WCW vs the World features several wrestlers from the WCW but the majority of its roster was made up of renamed Japanese wrestlers that TওHQ needed to rename due to licensing issues.

8 ꦐ WWE Day Of Reckoning 2 𒁃

WWE Day of Reckoning 2 was released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2005. It was developed by Yukes but featured some of the developers that worked on the AKI-developed games like WWF No Mercy. Day of Reckoning 2 was a huge improvement over its predecessor and managed to successfully blend the mechanics of the WWE Smackdown series and the AKI titles.

The only thing that held it back was the occasional clipping issues and it still wasn’t quit▨e as polished or🎐 as easy to pick up as AKI’s Nintendo 64 wrestling games.

7 Fire🍎 Pro Wrestling GBA

Fire Pro Wrestling Game Boy Advance was released in 2002 and did an incredible job of creating one of the most complex wrestling games ever made on the tiny handheld system. WCW/nWo Revenge is the successor to the already excellent WCW vs. NWO: World Tour and improved on it in every conceivable way. The much-loved AKI grappling system took the gameplay even further with its counter and reversal moves which still haven’t been matched 22 years after its release and the wrestling matches really felt like they were back and forth chess mat𒊎ches between two good players.

In addition, the WCW/nWo Revenge’s artificial intelligen❀ce was well ahead of any dedi🥀cated fighting game at the time.

4 🐼𝓰 Fire Pro Wrestling Returns

3 ♚ WWF Wrestlem𝐆ania 2000

WWF Wrestlemania 2000 was released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999 and took the AKI wrestling series to the next level when it comes to career mode due to itsౠ l𒅌ength and meaty story. However, it is the grappling mechanics and improved reversal/counter system that once again take center stage, and the inclusion of WWF/WWE superstars only served to enhance its star power at the height of the Attitude Era.

Additionally, WWF Wrestlemania 2000 allowed players to create their own wrestlers and even edit current superstars to update their current – something that the modern-day WWE 2K series doesn’t allow players to do.

2 ♔ WWF No Mercy

Released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, WWF No Mercy is for many wrestling fans the ultimate wrestling game when it comes to pure gameplay mechanics that are easy to pick but difficult (and fun) to master. The gameplay is incredibly deep and certainly not for fans that prefer an arcade-like experience and the number of options and support from the community when it comes to custom creations is unrivaled. With its final DLC releasing in 2020, developers Spike Chunsoft are really putting the power in the hands of its gamers with the Move Craft DLC. This powerful tool will allow its players to create and c𝕴ustomize their own moves in and out of the ri🐷ng.
