Compared to both Nintendo and Sony, Microsoft didn’t have a lot of exclusives for their Xbox line of consoles. There are some so they are least worth ranking out. Most of them at least were free on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Game Pass which is something, but some exclusives were omi🅷tted from the grouping for various reasons.
For example, as great as it was to see Phantasy Star Online 2 come to the West, after almost a decade, it is free for everyone and not just Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Grounded is an inventive new survival game from Obsidian that is getting great press and it too is free. However, it’s in Early Access and is not really a complete game. Finally, Bright Memory is an exclusive to the Xbox Series X, but not on Xbox Game Pass. With those notes out of the way let’s get to ranking, M🅷e🦋tacritic style.
8 Bleeding Edge (66)
Bleeding Edge is the first 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:exclusive Xbox game Ninja Theory has released since Microsoft bought the studio. While it did have some fans at launch, the big problem this game had then ꦫand now is establishing a player base. Ther🐬e wasn’t a lot to do in this multiplayer focused game. The heroes were all unique which is what one wants in these hero type shooter/action games but it wasn’t enough to keep players around. Sea of Thieves had a rocky start so maybe 2021 will bring new additions to Bleeding Edge to revive it.
7 Battletoads (72)
Battletoads also had a mixed reaction from fans and critics. This was the fꦅirst game in the series since the 90s. While the cartoony graphics and action are pretty good, it also added a 𓆉lot of extra stuff that was not needed.
The bike races for example can drag on too long and the self-referential humor will not strike everyone. It was good for a few hours 🙈with a co-op buddy at least.
6 Drake Hollow (77)
This is yet another survival and build type of game. What sets it apart from Rust and others like it is the colorful aesthetic of the world. There are also 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon like creatures in the world which are just too a🐭dorable for words. It’s not the most original game on the service and it ꦰhas a long way to go, but what launched in 2020 was a good start.
5 UnderMine (77)
UnderMine does not have an exact Metacritic score. It did have three reviews on the site for Xbox One. One of those reviews was from Screen Rant, which scored it a 70. Added up it comes out to 77. Numbers aside, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:this is a roguelike. Even though the title may make one think this has something to do with Minecraft mechanically, it doesn’t. The mine just serves as the dungeon. That sa😼id, it is a fun anℱd easy one of these to get into and definitely one of the most underrated titles of the year.
4 Tell Me Why (78)
This is the next narrative driven adventure from Dontnod Entertainment, the creators of Life is Strange. It too is episodic, With three episodes in fact, which is weird considering all three episodes dropped onto 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Game Pass relatively quickly. That’s good for those൩ that like to binge games like this. Unfortunately it’s not as compelling as the aforementioned Life is Strange. The idea of choosing what twin to believe in a given scenario is a cool idea for a narrative, but the story just never felt impactful overall making these choices seem less meaningful and more trivial.
3 Call Of The Sea (79)
Call of the Sea wears its inspirations on its sleeve. It is like Mist in that players will be sent to a mysterious island that is full of color, wonder, and mystery in the form of puzzles. It’s also a little like The Witness but if that game had a more compelling s♛tory.
Players inh𓆏abit Norah, a diseased woman in search of her husband Harry who went to this island in search of a cure. Not all of it fits together like the intricacy in the puzzles, but it was a surprising debut from the new studio, Out of the Blue.
2 Gears Tactics (82)
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gears Tactics took awhile to come to consoles. It wasn’t out until the launch of the Xbox Series X in fact. It may not be as groundbreaking as Gears of War 6, or even Halo Infinite, but this spinoff was a big surprise and well worth the wait for console owners. For those unaware, this is a prequel set in the height of the Locust Wars. It plays like X-COM but a bit easier. That is to say death isn’t a huge given. That’s a good thing though if some players found those games too hard or were even turned off but the typical 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gears of War formula.
1 Tetris Effect: Connected (88)
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tetris Effect: Connected will come to other consoles in 2021, but for 2020, this is an exclusive. It’s more of a retooled game♑ than a brand new adventure. The big♌ gimmick, or addition to this, is multiplayer. It may not have the VR support like the PS4 version had, which was like a transformative experience, but multiplayer also has its quirks. That is to say it is a great multiplayer game especially at the launch for the Xbox Series X.
