Today was supposed to be the day that the Xbox Mini Fridge went up for pre-order at online retailers. And it did, but ev♌eryone ran ou𝓰t of stock pretty much immediately. One Twitter user rep♒orted Target ran out of fridges .
Scalpers appear to be the reason w🐼hy nobody can buy an Xbox Mini Fridge. Ebay listings are already popping up .
With a clear focus for their rage, angry customers have already . This is despite the fact that deliveries aren't expected until later in December, so nobody knows how good this fridge will actually be.
Xbox’s Twitter post is full of angry gamers expressing their disappointment at once again being thwarted by scalpers. One suspects that the Xbox Series X|S release is still raw for many of them. Xbox&rs🉐quo;s community team is trying to do damage control by reminding people that , but it doesn’🐈t seem enough.
While scalpers certainly deserve much of the blame, let's not forget that retailers are also part of the problem here. The internet and modern AI software have just provided everyone with the tools to buy up a commodity and then resell it for a profit. If retailers bothered to combat these tools and implement systems that prevented mass bot purchases, then we wouldn't have a scalping issue at all.
That said, I’m not sure Target, Xb▨ox, or anyone else imagined that demand for a fridge would be so high that it would fall prey to scalpers.
While you might not be able to celebrate Xbox's 20th birthday with a cold soda from your new fridge, Xbox is hoping you'll tune in on November 15 to watch their 20th-anniversary broadcast. Don’t expect any new game ꦆannoun💮cements though.
