The long-rumored existence of another Xbox console separate from the Series X—whꦺich we've known as "Project Lockhart"—has apparently been con﷽firmed, thanks to leaked controller packaging for the next-gen console. Twitter user @TomWarren shared images of the controller packaging which seem to show that it was meant for use on two different consoles.

Reporters at The Verge obtained photos of the controller and was able to confirm that it is real after a Twitter user claimed that they were able to purchase it on a resale site online. At the end of last month, there was a rumor of a white controller on Reddit sparking speculation that there would be a white version of the Series X, but few dared to imagine 🌞that this was in connecti💦on to Project Lockhart.

In this case, wild speculation paid off, because we have saying that there will be a second Xbox console in the future. On the surface, there is nothing special about the controller. It comes in the same square box that all of the other controllers come in and it appears to have a "share" button that wasn't there before, but other than that, you wouldn't be able to tell that this was the smoking gun that would reveal the existence of another console. However, taking a look at the safety warnings and user manual—which we all tend to throw away without looking at—you can see that the controller is designed for the Series X and the Series S🌺, as well as Xbox One and PC.

Controllers have been a contentious issue in the supposed console wars. Microsoft has decided that they don't want you spending tons of money on equipment and have thus opted for your old Xbo🦄x One controller to work on the Series X—and probably the Series S. PlayStation is going🧸 a different route, by upgrading the controller and making the PS5 incompatible with a PS4 controller.

We are fairly sure that we are going to get another showcase event from Xbox this month, so it is poss✤ible that we will see the reveal of the Series S. If they do reveal the Series S this month, along with more games, the next logical thing for them to do is to announce release dates and pricing. Both Sony and Microsoft have been reluctant to discuss either of those things, but the announcement of secondary consoles may change that discussion. Either way, be sure to follow us on social media to stay up-to-date on the next generation of consoles.
