AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, which will launch on June 22, is the company’s answer to Nvidia DLSS. The technology is built t🤡o enhance gameplay by allowing games on integrated platforms to achieve higher frame rates as well as resolutions. Microsoft revealed to that the technology will be supported b൲y the 💧Xbox Series X.

"At Xbox, we’re excited by the potential of AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution technology as another great method forꩲ developers to increase frame rates and resolution. We will have more to share on thi🐼s soon," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.

Microsoft had already included the Fidelity FX tools into the development kits for the Series X|S, so this news doesn't come as ▨much of a surprise. Developers could make use of the optimization tools offered by the technology, which in turn helped pave the way for FidelityFX Super Resolution.

According to the AMD , FidelityFX Super Resolution uses “cutting-edge upscaling technologies to help boost your framerates and deliver high-quality, high resolution gaming experiences, without having to upgrade to a new graphics card.” It enables games to run at an acceptable frame rate while ♐visual enhancements like raytracing are turn🌠ed on.

This technology is parti🎃cularly useful for when you’re gaming on a laptop or a console, where upgrading the GPU is not really an option. The tech features four image upscaling modes - Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced, and Performance 🃏- each of which focuses on either image quality, or frame rate.

As pointed out by IGN, “Unlike its competition, Nvidia's DLSS, which is an image upscaling technology that uses AI to upscale lower resolution images and make them appear at a higher resolution without 𝄹requiring a substantial amount oಞf performance, FidelityFX Super Resolution does not require machine learning.” AMD’s technology is also open source, so it can be supported by Nvidia graphic cards as well.

Nintendo’s upcoming Switch model, dubbed Switch Pro, is rumoured to be revealed soon. The handheld is said to suppoಌrt Nvidia’s DLSS technology. While the GPU in the Switch itself is the biggest performance-determining factor, there’s no doubt that DLSS is going to be an absolute game changer for Nintendo’s next handheld console.
