Last year, you probably heard a lot about Obsidian's latest RPG - a quiet, introspective yarn centered around time loops and imploding universes called Outer Wilds. Wait, no, sorry - that's The Outer Worlds, a game that most people think is Outer Wilds. There was a lot of confusion at the game's titling last year. 🍰That's it.🌳 That's the joke.

And it looks like the joke is ultimately on us, as Outer Wilds writer Kelsey Beachum made a cheeky announcement on Twitter today: she's also doing work on The Outer Worlds. In particular, she's working on Peril On Gorgon (along with game director Carrie Patel and Kate Dollarhyde,) a new $15 story expansion coming ou🔯t later th𝓀is year.

No word on if this'll carry over progress from our own Eric Switzer's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:definitely canonical genocide run. We can only hope.

Beachum herself is a hell of a writer, as evidenced by the numerous accolades she racked up for Outer Wilds last year. For good reason, too - the game's a fairly astounding achievement in the realm of video game sci-fi, and one of the more ambitious titles to come out of 2019. Having her come on board The Outer Worlds can only be a good thing, as a talented writer playing around in that ⛦world can only be a good thing.

Honestly, though, we can't help but wonder how this collab came to be. Did Obsidian reach out and say, "hey, a lot o𒐪f people got our games confused, come write for us"? Or did Beachum take the initiative here - "I worked on another sci-fi game with 'outer' in the title, so let's do something together"? The mind boggles.

In any case, Kelsey Beachum is doing work on The Outer Worlds, and the game's likely going to be better for it. The base game was a pretty flawed experience with some decent ideas under the hood, so this expansion and this writer could really add more flavor to it. We'll see how it pans out when Outer Wilds: Peril on Gorgon drops on September 9.

Wait, fuck. Did I get that right?
