Here, you can basically do whatever you want. Survivors no longer have this unique trust system in the second game. You can actually completely run over non-hostile survivors and NPCs and nothing will happen to them. They won't get injured and they won't be upset. You can still damage your car by driving silly and ramming into zombies, but it takes more work to start smoking up a car.

Hordes and freaks are the main problems for your community in the first game. If there are too many hordes near your base, you are given the task to deal with them or your morale will suffer. There will be notifications on the top left or right of your screen telling you that you must deal with hordes or defeat a nearby freak. Freaks are elite zombies like screamers, ferals, and juggernauts. These things being near the base will stress out your community📖.
To fix morale, you're given the side quest to speak to one of your survivors and make sure they feel okay. You go on a run with them and talk about life, then when you get back the team's morale gets recharged.

Here, hordes don't worry survivors if they are at home. While on the road, a survivor you're with will mention a nearby horde with fear, but it's only a call out. Your assigned snipers and others will simply deal with them if they get too close and move on. The real issue in the second game is infestations. These occur in the first game but are less of a problem. In the second game, what looks like your supply locker at your base, is not available when you visit NPC's or enclaves. Instead of being able to access an enclaves storage by yourself, you must interact with one of the enclave members and discuss trading with them. This opens up their inventory where you purchase items they have with Influence points you've gained.

State of Decay
As briefly mentioned in the section about reckless driving, survivors in the first game have a trust system. If you start running them over and never do their side quests, you cannot control them. When you first start the game you have up to three survivors you can control from the main story. Anyone recruited after that you will have to build trust with to be able to use and control them. It's important to build trust because if your three survivors are injured, you need someone else to play the game as while the main characters rest.
State of Decay 2
State of Decay 2 doesn't work like this. You can control pretty much anyone in your base. There's no need to work for more survivors to control. Running them over and not doing their side quests won't affect anything. If you miss a side quest from one of your community survivors, you get a temporary decrease in morale but that's about it. You can still control that character.
2 Number of Outposts 💛

Off the bat, you have access to six different outpost slots. ꦕThis gives you a lot of space to strategically claim outposts around yo♋ur base. There is no limit to what you can do with your base and no need to gradually unlock outpost slots.
State of Decay 2
In the second game, you can only have a maximum of four outposts in your game. This is a major downgrade and makes it so that the player must think really smart about what they need the most for survival. You start off with only two slots but can upgrade your Command Center facility to unlock up to two more outpost slots. Every playthrough is different and you can find yourself needing more of one mat🦩erial or benefit than the other. With only four slots available, being ဣstrategic about what you choose is a must.
