Updated October 26, 2022, by Seth Parmer: The Second Wave of the Expansion Pass is finally here, which brought in a new Hero and Class. As a result, we have updated this guide to include Ino's Completion Bonuses and Heroic Chain. We also updated all Heroes with their base TP Stat as theirs are less likely to fluctuate than the core Ouroboros members.
The Post Game Characters section covers the two Heroes you can obtain in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 after you roll credits, which will heavily spoil the game's plot if you have not yet finished it. We placed it at the tail end of this guide to help you avoid spoiling yourself, so please take caution when nearing the end of the page!
Completion Bonuses And Heroic Chains Overview
During Chain Attacks in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you will have the opportunity to score loads of damage, apply status effects, and even reactivate members to bring them back in the attack rotation if you head into each encounter with a level of strategy. Every character has their own unique Completion Bonus, with each Hero having a special Heroic Chain that activates during the attacking portion of the Chain Attack when used in a specific way.
If you want to get the most out of your Chain Attack, then knowing what each character offers during the planning and execution phase will go a long way. While there is an element of randomness in during Chain Attacks, you can use several tricks and Role specific traits to nudge things into a more ma𒁏nageable and predictable manner. Before diving into each character's Completion Bonus and Heroic Chain, let's first go over what they are.
Completion Bonuses
Completion Bonuses are unique buffs and bonuses awarded to you for successfully completing a Chain Attack, which means you must at least score 100 Percent or better on your TP Rating. The Completion Bonus is determined by whichever character you choose in the planning stages, which is the section where you must select one of three cards before moving on to the combat portion.
While the prominent party members have excellent Completion Bonuses of their own, the Heroes' are a cut above the rest. They can offer things such as extra Tactical Points or a much higher damage output, making theirs a top priority. However, the three cards you choose from are always random, making you have to strategize on the fly. Additionally, Hero Cards do not consume your TP Gauge and will always give you a free round of attacking, so we suggest always choosing them whenever they co💟me up.
Heroic Chains
Heroic Chains are exclusive bonuses and boosts offered by using Heroes in specific situations, such as at the start of a Chain Attack or to close it out. Some Heroic Chains, for example, will reactivate every party member except for themselves for the next wave of your Chain Attack, while others will guarantee you an 'Amazing' TP Score. Each Hero can grant you an enormous upswing of damage or Bonus EXP if implemented into your strategy correctly.
There are many Heroes in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, so it can be tricky to track their Heroic Chains. Fortunately, once you know what each of them are capable of, you can craft some pretty unique and devastating team compositions and wreak havoc on your opponents. Understanding your selected Hero's Heroic Chain and using it to its full advantage will dramatically improve your overall damage output, allowing you to seveܫrely wound a boss or Unique Monster to make the encounter much more manageable.
It's also important to note that even if, say, you have Noah's class currently set to a Healer, he will always be classified as an Attacker in the planning phase of your Chain Attack but will resume his role as a Healer during the attacking phase. This means that his Completion Bonus will always be the same, which also applies to the rest of the main cast members.
Attacker Completion Bonuses And Heroic Chains
Attackers typically lead the charge and even receive an extra TP Boost for opening a Chain Attack with a strike on the opponent. However, in some cases, Heroes might have a stipulation for their Heroic Chain that will have you use them at the end of the Chain rather than the start, which is why it's essential to know where each of them thrives and how to use them properly.
Since the Attackers are the DPS Role in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, they have the most characters out of the bunch, giving you many ways to increase your damage output during a Chain Attack. So, without further ado, let's get into the Attacker's Completion Bonuses and Heroic Chains!

Defender Completion Bonuses And Heroic Chains
Defenders are the backbone of any excellent Chain Attack. They offer several ways to lower your target's protections and can reactivate the character with the highest TP Rating if they close out a Chain Attack. Furthermore, they can help you set up combos and will allow you to target specific weaknesses of your opponent in creative and rewarding ways.
Despite Defenders having the smallest pool of characters to choose from, they more than overperform with what they have and make or break your Chain Attack. Implementing them properly will carry you to more significant damage and Bonus EXP payouts. So, with that in mind, let's go over what makes them so great!

The Healers have the second highest character count in the game, coming in just shy of the Attackers. This means that there are plenty of heals to go around, and you can find whichever Hero or team composition works best for you to get the most out of their fun and unique playstyle and Chain Attack Rules.
