Once you reach this portion of the game, you'll have access to the Aurora Shelf, an expansive area with plenty of monsters to encounter and Landmarks to discover. However, you may struggle with the quest, especially if you explore and get lost, so follow a few steps to complete the Tinkering With The X-Reader quest.

Getting Started

Accepting a quest from Tiny Timtim, the Tinkering With the X-Reader quest from Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed.

Once you reach the Aurora Shelf, some cutscenes will play, encouraging you to interact with NPCs. To begin the quest, you can talk with Tiny Timtim, a red Nopon. Tiny Timtim can be found west of Pilgrims' Rest Remains, south of Atattra Access Elevator, and along the west wall when you take the lift from Vermilion Woods to the Aurora Shelf.

How To Upgrade The X-Reader

Once you start the quest, you'll get a tutorial that explains you'll access the X-Reader at Rest Stops. Simply go to any Rest Stop you went to previously and select the fourth item in the list. There's one next to Tiny Timtim called the Elevator Landing Camp if you want to use it. Doing so will reveal the X-Reader, allowing you to upgrade it if you have the correct items.

You also gain access to cooking and gem crafting at this time. Cooking gives your team temporary stat boosts, while gems a🍌llow you to create upgrades for your teammates, so they can equip them for stat boosts and passive effects in battle.

At this point in the game, you had to stay at some Rest Stops to progress the story, so return to any of them. If you have trouble finding them again, hold down the ZL button and press X. Doing so will op🥂en your Area Map, so scroll around until you find a location with two hands shaking, and yoꦍu can fast travel there to go to a Rest Stop.

If you missed any up to this point, look at the southern portion of the map to find a Rest Stop.

Getting The Items

A runs through Aionios to collect some items in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed.

At this point in the game, you won't be able to get the necessary items for the Weakness Sensor, Arts Analysis, or Key Item Sensor. It would be best to tackle the Treasure Sensor, which uses light and sound to let you know when you'll find nearby containers and relics. You can also go for the Sense Analysis, which creates a display to let you know if enemies sense you through sight, sound, or other means.

The Treasure Sensor requires 3 Flake Crystals, 1 Twin Generators, and 2 Shining Ellook Antlers. The Sense Analysis has the same requirements, except you mus🌳t have 3 Shining Ellook Antlers and an Ether Cylindeไr, so you can find them in the following locations.

Go to the Shulvae Splinter Landmark in Vermilion Woods. You can go southeast to find an enemy called the Olkort Ellook in this area. It's an enemy that looks like a red stag, so defeat these to collect Ellook Antlers.

If you haven't found an Ether Cylinder, you can follow a few directions to quickly get one if you want to get the Sense Analysis.

  • Fast travel to the Three-Pillar Transept Ruins in the Aurora Shelf. If you don't have it, travel east of the Pilgrims' Rest Remains to find it.
  • Travel east or northeast to find an Ether Channel. There are two in this area, and they appear as glowing green points on the ground.

Returning The Quest

A, Rex, and Nikol approach Tiny Timtim with Jilljill in the background in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed.

After you collect the items and upgrade the X-Reader, return the quest to Tiny Timtim to finish the mission. If you have trouble finding the character after exploring Vermilion Woods and getting the items, select Quests from the pause menu, scroll down to Tinkering With the X-Reader, and set it as your Active Quest by pressing Y.

From there, you can hold ZL in-game and press Yꦦ. Doing so will cause an orange path to appear, leading you back to Tiny Timtim to finish the quest. You can then continue with the story and find Glimmer.
