Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has gone off to a flying start, as its physical sales are already double that of the original version on the Nintﷺendo Wii when it was released in the UK in 2011.

The original version of Xenoblade Chronicles was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2010, but there were doubts that it would see a North American release. The Wii is still one of the best-selling consoles of all-time, but it was simultaneously a system rife with piracy. 2010 was also the time when JRPGs and action RPGs made in Japan were considered to be at their lowest point in popularity. Xenoblade Chronicles received an English localization and it was released in Europe in 2011, but no plans were made for an American release. It took the efforts of a fan movement called Operation Rainfall to bring Xenoblade Chronicles to North America in 2012, along with two other games named Pandora's Tower and The Last Story.

Xenoblade Chronicles saw reasonable success on the Wii during its initial release, but its updated port has enjoyed far more positive reception. Xenoblade Chronicles Shulk Sharla

The newfound success of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition can be chalked up to the fact that the series has a much higher profile now than it did in 2010. Since the release of the original Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii, there have been two sequels: a port on the New Nintendo 3DS, and Shulk became a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A lot of people have been exposed to the Xenoblade series over the past ten years and many fans who were drawn in by the later titles now have the perfect chance to go back and experie෴nce the adventure that started ♓it all.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has toppled Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the #1 spot in the UK charts, which is no small feat, considering the incredible popularity that game has seen over the pa▨st few months. The only question now is whether Shulk has managed to impress the rest of the world in the same way that he has done for the homeland of his accent.
