Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is the conclusion to the Kiryu saga and offerᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚs more of the same compelling storyline, interesting characters, and brilliant humor as its predecessors did. A common staple of the Yakuza games are substories, essentially optional side-quests that players can choose to undertake for some added plotlines.
In Yakuza 6, there are 51 substories in total spread out across both Kamurocho and Onomichi. Some substories will be triggered automatically when arriving at set locations, whereas others require you to actually interact with a target or NPC to initiate them. If you want to hunt down each substory in Yakuza 6, we've gꦰot a full guide ri𒈔ght here that breaks them down per chapter and offers overall map locations.
Please note: Some substories require that you progress the story before appearing. Others will only appear once other substories are completed, and a select few can only be triggered during a certain time of day.
Kamurocho Substory Locations
Substory 51 is not shown on the map as it requires you to take a taxi to a specific location.
Onomichi Substory Locations
Substories 35-39 are not shown on the map as they require you to take a taxi to a specific location.
Chapter One Substories
(Substory #3) Haruka's Biggest Fan
In the children's play park, there is a mother arguing with her child. The child wants you to get her a pi🦩cture of Haruka, so go to Don Quijote and speak to the clerk there. He will direct you to Club SEGA in Theater Square. Go upstairs in Club SEGA and speak to the man in the Haruka shirt, and when he quizzes you, answer with "So Much More!".
He tells you to go to Ebisu Pawn to purchase the photo for ¥50,000. Return to the par🌳k and give it to the girl. You then need to leave the area and return when the substory icon appears once more to speak to the girl again. She will give you a picture that she drew of Haruka and the substory will complete.
If you can't afford the photo, you can leave Ebisu Pawn and head towards Don Quijote and you should see a fight that you can choose to intervene in. Save the guy and he will give you the item you need.
(Substory #5) I, Hiji
On Nakamichi Stre꧅et, there is a man on the corner that will invite Kiryu to try out "Hiji", a mobile phone app. Afterward, head to the location marked on your map (the children's park) and answer the app's questions however you like. Leave the park and save a woman from an attacker, before returning to the man who installed the app to complete the substory.
(Substory #14) Face Your Fears
This substory is related to the hostess minigame at Club Shine. You must reach Diamond Rank with Saki in order to unlock this substory.
Meet Saki in ꦿfront of the Millenium Tower and the two of you will go for a walk. You will see a fan of hers being attacked, and naturally, Kiryu will step in to help. This completes the subඣstory.
(Substory #15) A Shady Business
This substory is related to the hostess minigame at Club Shine. You must reach Diamond Rank with Hikaru in order to unlock this substory.
Head to East Taihei Boulevard to trigger ꦆa cuꦚtscene. Follow Hikaru down Senryo Avenue and then fight the thugs to save her and complete the substory.
(Substory #16) Listen to Your Heart
This substory is related to the hostess minigame at Club Shine. You must reach Diamond Rank with Sora in order to unlock this substory.
Meet Sora in Theater Square and join in the conversation however you like to comple𒁃te the substory.
(Substory #17) Caught in a Love Triangle
This substory is related to the hostess minigame at Club Shine. You must reach Diamond Rank with Erina in order to unlock this substory.
Meet Erin🔥a in Theater Square before taking her to dinner. Defeat her creepy stalker to complete the substory.
(Substory #18) Hostess with a Heart of Gold
This substory is related to the hostess minigame at Club Shine. You must reach Diamond Rank with Riona in order to unlock this substory.
Meet up with Riona on the corner of Pink Street an꧒d East Taihei Boulevard and defeat the guys hassling her and the hostesses. After another cutscene, this substory will complete.
(Substory #21) Look What the Dragon Dragged In
There is a Cat Cafe that can be found on the upper floor of this building. You'll discover that the cafe is not doing so well as it has no cats, so the owner will enlist Kiryu's help to find some. We have a full guide on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:all cat locations here.
(Substory #22) The Temptation of Live Chat
Outside of Wette Kitchen (W Taihei𝓡 Blvd.), you'll witness a couple arguing. Afterward, the man will explain to Kiryu about chat rooms. Head to the internet cafe marked on your map and speak to the man inside. This will complete the substory and open up the chat room minigame.
(Substory #23) We're Committed to Results
In Theater Alle💖y, as you walk past RIZAP gym you will see some men talking and eventually be taken inside. Agree to become a member and take part in the first challenge in order to complete the substory.
(Substory #24) A Man Rises Up
You must have completed substory #23 in order to trigger this substory.
After completing the previous substory, when you leave 🐲RIZAP gym you will be app♓roached by a stranger who will challenge you to a fight. The man is Sodachi Dojo and even after you beat him, he promises to come back even stronger and challenge you again. You won't be able to complete this substory until a later chapter.
In Chapter Six, Sodachi will pop up on the Troublr app and can be found w🦋andering the streets of Kamurocho. ไMake sure you defeat him a couple of times, after which you need to meet him in the children's park for your final showdown. Defeat him to complete the substory.
Chapter Four Substories
(Substory #25) The Fools Who Dream
Go to the Ryunan Shrine to 🧜find a woman and her daughter arguing. Speak with the daughter afterward, whose name is Misa, then choose the following conversation option: "Go tell him how you feel". After the cutscene, leave the area and get on with some other business, and eventually, you'll see the substory marker has returned prompting you to go back.
After the cutscene, defeat the guys who were troubling Misa and then chase after her to make sure she's ok. In the following conversation, choose the option "Everyone just꧑ wants you to succeed" to complete the substory.
(Substory #26) Sins of the Father
On Second Hill, near the stairs that lead to the cemetery are two elderly people talking. Agree to help the man and head to the location marked on your map at West National Route. Speak to the women handing out flyers and choose theও option "I want to join the Order of Munan Chohept Onast". Once inside, you'll need to pass a quiz, but fortunately, we have the answers for you right h🐎ere:
- "Hept-onast"
- "Kulipaas"
- "Munan Akamatsu"
- "Re-education"
After passing the test, you can meet withಌ the cult leader who you then have to defe𓆉at in battle in order to complete the substory.
(Substory #28) The Curse of Onimichi
This substory is only available at night.
Head to the cemetery and you'll find yourself battling a "ghost", make sure you win the fight to progress the substory. Carry on with other substories for a while, and every now and then return to the cemetery when the blue substory quest marker reappears on the map to take part in your next fight. After five battle𓄧s, return to the cemetery and speak to the groundskeeper to complete this substory.
(Substory #29) Oh No! It's Ono Michio!
Head to the Central Shoppin𒁃g District to find a large orange head on the fꦯloor. Interact with it and a producer will approach and speak to you, so agree to take on the role of the mascot. Choose the following options as the substory plays out:
- "Introduce Yourself Passionately"
- "Nice to michi!"
- "Oh no!"
- "Onomichi ramen-michi!"
- "Oh no!"
Afterward, win t𝓡he following 𝔍battle to complete the substory.
(Substory #32) The Girl Who Leapt Through Time?
On Hilltop Path Kiryu will encounter a woman 🍨who claims to be from the future. Choose the "If you insist" conversation option and follow up with any questions you like. Kiryu will eventually leave, but later the subst🎐ory marker will appear on the pedestrian footbridge. Head there to find the woman again and listen to her story. Then, you simply have to defeat the thugs to complete the substory.
(Substory #33) A Freaky Situation
Travel down the Ryunan Shrine Stairway to trigger the cutscene. Afterward, head back up towards the temple and speak to Kazuo to trigger the next scene. Defeat the thugs in the followin𒐪g battle to complete⛄ the substory.
(Substory #34) Assemble the Team
This substory is only available during the day. This substory is related to the baseball minigame.
On West Shishido Street, you will be approached by a man in a baseball uniform. Agree to join the team and then take a taxi to the Baseball Field to take part in the𒁃 gam🌟e. Your team won't win but this will complete the substory regardless.
(Substory #35) We Need a Ringer
You must have completed substory #34 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the baseball minigame. You must take a taxi to the baseball field during the day to trigger it.
A cutscene will play where the team will discuss that they need some new players. Return to Onomichi and go t𒆙o the location marked on your map in Hana-no-kubo. Defeat the guys there to complete the substory.
(Substory #36) The Sweet Taste of Victory
You must have completed substory #36 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the baseball minigame. You must take a taxi to the baseball field during the day to trigger it.
Head baꦉck to the baseball field and win a match to complete the substory.
(Substory #37) Decisive Battle! Jingai Thunders
You must have completed substory #36 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the baseball minigame. You must take a taxi to the baseball field during the day to trigger it.
Return to the baseball field and get ready to play against the Thunders. These guys are a lot harder than the team you faced 👍in the last game, so it's worth leveling up your team in preparation.
(Substory #38) The Throne of Onomichi
You must have completed substory #37 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the baseball minigame. You must take a taxi to the baseball field during the day to trigger it.
Your next match is against the Onomichi Legends and they are even more difficult than the last team. You should aim to get y🤡our baseball players to at least level three or four to compete against these guys.
(Substory #39) True Bonds
You must have completed substory #38 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the baseball minigame. You must take a taxi to the baseball field during the day to trigger it.
Your final match is against the Kanamizawa Gorgeous team, so you'll want your own team to be at least level five to take these gu♕ys down and complete this substory. Afterward, you can find Kanamizawa outs🥃ide of the navy apartments to get him to join your clan.
(Substory #47) The Old Man and the Sea
This substory is related to the spearfishing minigame and can only be done during the day.
Head down to Jingai Ferry Dock, examine the fish there, and speak to Isao. Leave the area and complete some other stuff, then after a while, the su🌄bstory icon will appear at the docks again, prompting you to go and speak with Isao again. Agree to help him out to unlock spearfishing and then complete your first minigame to finish this substory.
(Substory #48) World's Best Octopus
You must have completed substory #47 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the spearfishing minigame and can only be done during the day.
Return to Isao at the dock who is speaking to a man in a suit. The guy is Kenji Gorchov, a baseball player who wants a delicious octopus meal. Ta♎ke part in "The Sunken Course" stage of the spearfishing minigame and defeat the Deliciouꦬs Octopus to complete the substory. Kenji Gorchov will also agree to join your baseball team.
(Substory #49) World's Best Octopus
You must have completed substory #48 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is related to the spearfishing minigame and can only be done during the day.
Head back to the docks to speak to Isao to unlock the "Dragon's Den" stage of the spearfishing minigame. Defeat the Bloody Shark in this stage to complete 💫the substory.
(Substory #50) Crisis Management Professional
At the Ropeway Station, you will find a man on the floor who asks you to get him a Tonkatsu Bento. However, this item is only available in Kamurocho, so you will have to wait until you return there in a later chapter, unless you have one on you already. Once you've given the man the bento, he will introduce himself as Saigo and will want to fꦛight you. Defeat him and afterward, Saigo will begin to appear on the Troublr app walking around Onomichi, much like Sodachi. Defeat him twice as he roams the city, before heading back to the Ropeway Station for your final showdown and the completion of this substory.
Chapter Five Substories
(Substory #27) Pocket Fighter Returns
At the northern end of Shops Alley, you'll ⭕find a familiar face — the Pocket Fighter Champion. After speaking with him, head to the Hilltop Path and speak with his son just outside of Lওa Pente.
💎Carry on with some other substories until the blue marker reappears to get you to return to speak to Pocket Fighter Champion's son once more. After the cutscen𓃲e, head to the Jingai Ferry Dock and defeat the thugs to complete the substory.
(Substory #30) The Ono Michio Show
You must have completed substories #29 and #40 in order to trigger this substory.
At North Hana-no-kubo, you'll reunite𝄹 with the producer who asked you to take on the mascot role of Ono Michio before. He wants your help again, only this time it's a concert. He🧸ad to Snack New Gaudi and perform karaoke to complete the substory.
(Substory #31) Putting on a Brave Face
You must have completed substory #30 in order to trigger this substory.
On the corner of West Shishido Street, you𒆙'll find a mother and child arguing. Speak to the girl afterward, then head to the Yoronotaki in Jingai Main Street to borrow the Ono Michio costume from the producer. Return to the girl and speak with her, before battling the same thugs from before to complete the substory.
(Substory #40) The Joys of Adulthood
You must have completed substory #35 in order to trigger this substory. This substory is only available during the day. This substory is related to the friendship minigame.
Outside of Snack New Gaudi, you will bump into Hatakey🌌ama, a regular of the bar. This substory serves as a tutorial for the friendship minigame, and once the cutscene is over, the su🔯bstory will be complete.
(Substory #41) What's the Matter with Kids Today?
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Hatakeyama enough to trigger it.
❀Head into Snack New Gaudi and speak with Hatakeyama.🦋 Make sure you answer with the following options:
- "He hasn't said yet."
- "True."
- "Let's hear the details."
- "They sure can."
- "Well, we need details."
- "That's so true."
- "With you there."
- "I'm hearing you out, Hatakeyama-san."
- "Good question."
- "Makes sense."
- "He's kind of right."

Afterward, head over to La♔ Pente and see a cutscene with Hatakeyama to complete the substory. Speaking to Hatakeyama in Snack New Gaudi once this substory is complete will make him join your baseball team.
(Substory #42) Powerful Memories
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Akiyoshi enough to trigger it.
Head into Snack New Gaudi and speak with Akiyoshi. Make sure ﷽you answer with the following options:
- "Oh, wow."
- "You really are."
- "Huh?"
- "Totally"
- "So full of energy."
- "I get it now."
- "Why not?"
- "She's right."
- "Give yourself some credit."
- "Yeah, are you?"
- "He's right."
- "Explain."
- "Who says an experienced adult is bad?"
- "Oh really?"
- "I'll drink to that."
- "That's fair."
Afterward, head over to the pedestrian bridg🍰e to watch a cutscene and complete the substory. Speaking to Akiyoshi in Snack New Gaudi once this substory is 🎃complete will make him join your baseball team.
(Substory #43) Tech Support
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Gen enough to trigger it.
Head to Snackꦑ New Gaudi and speak with Gen. Mak♐e sure you answer with the following options:
- "Tell me about it."
- "Why not?"
- "He hasn't?"
- "It really is."
- "If I can, you can."
- "I agree."
- "Yeah, have you?"
- "Why don't you give it a shot?"
- "Well, are you?"
- "That's true."
- "Good point."
- "Machines are pretty useful too."
- "I know the feeling."
- "Size doesn’t matter."
- "Yep."
- "She's right."
Leave the area and after a while, Gen will send you a selfie to your phoꦐne, after which you can r🍰eturn to the bar to complete the substory. Speaking to Gen in Snack New Gaudi once this substory is complete will make him join your baseball team.
(Substory #44) The Price of Love
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Ando enough to trigger it, which can only be done once you have maxed out a friendship with the previous bar patrons.
Waღlking past Snack New Gaudi will trigger this substory, then follow Ando to the Ota💙fuku Pawnshop for your next cutscene. Finally, return to Snack New Gaudi and speak with him and ensure that you choose the following conversation options:
- "Yep."
- "True that."
- "For real?"
- "You were?"
- "So true."
- "You think so?"
- "Damn."
- "What happened to the ring?"
- "It sure is."
- "Are you sure?"
- "Can we ask that?"
- "I get you."
- "Me too."
- "Hey now."
- "You should talk to your ex."
- "Yeah…"
- "You mean that?"
- "She's right."
Afterward, go to Otafuku Pawnship again and defeat the thief when he shows up. You'll then find Ando on the location marked on your map at the south of Onomichi. Speak with him to trigger another cutscene and finish the substory. Speaking to Gen in Snack New Gaudi once this substory is complete will make him jo☂in your clan.
(Substory #45) Kaneko's Resolve
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Kaneko enough to trigger it, which can only be done once you have maxed out a friendship with the previous bar patrons.
Head to Snack New Gaudi and sꦯpeak with Kaneko. Make sure you answer with the following options:
- "It's great."
- "A lucky day?"
- "Uh oh."
- "Must really love boxing."
- "We all punch the air."
- "I boxed my lamp too."
- "Like a pro?"
- "Can you do it?"
- "Whoa."
- "Probably."
- "I didn't know that."
- "That's possible."
- "Mama could get all toned up."
- "I'd like to know why."
- "Jackass confirmed."
- "Are you fat?"
After the conversation, Kaneko's old coach will give you a photo. Head to Ryunan Shrine and trigger the cut💧scene with Kaneko to finish the substory. Speaking to Kaneko in Snack New Gaudi once this substory is complete will make him join your clan.
(Substory #46) Thanks for Everything, Mama
This substory is related to the friendship minigame and you must have raised your friendship with Mama enough to trigger it, which can only be done once you have maxed out a friendship with all other patrons.
Head to Yonetoku, and outside you will see a woman selling stationery. Speak with her to get a free sample. Go to Snack New Gaudi afterward, but you'll find the place is empty. Choose to hide ⭕your thank you letter under the electric water pot.
Carry on with some other stuff, and eventually, Kiryu will say that it's time to visit Mama. The substory marker will appear on the map at the docks, so head over there and speak to Mama. Choose the f♓ollowing conversation options:
- "That's true."
- "At age 20?"
- "Yeah, man."
- "Good question."
- "Everyone has their quirks."
- "Why'd you do that?"
- "Looking forward to it."
- "Leave it to Mama."
- "You'd do that?"
- "Good analogy."
- "When we became your fans."
- "It'd be tough."
- "I wouldn't dream of it."
- "Yeah."
- "A family like ours…"
- "Well said."
- "Exactly."
- "What?"
Afterward, head back to Snack New Gaudi fo꧙r a cutscene♓ and to complete the substory.
Chapter Six Substories
(Substory #1) The Kabedon Prince
Head towards the backlot in Tenkaichi Alley and save the host from the thugs. Afterward, you'll both go for a drink in Bantam, and aft⭕er the weird cutscene, you will head back out for another fight. Defeat the thugs again to complete the substory.
(Substory #2) Hey, It's Me!
Head towards the safe in Nakamichi Alley and you'll receive a phone call. Choose "Taichi" as your first answer, followed by "This is probably a scam.", and then "This is definitely a scam!". After the phone c𒀰all, head over to the Millenium Tower and defeat the scammers to complete the substory.
(Substory #6) Like, Comment, Subscribe
On the eastern side of Theater Square, you will find a man using a selfie stick. Speak to him to discover that he wishes to interview a yakuza. Once he leaves, head towards the batting center to find and speak with him again. Next, go to the corner ﷽of Tenkaichi Alley and Nakamichi Street to 🌌find him yet again.
Finally, head to Tenkaichi Street and you'll find the guy hanging outside of the Mahjong building. You need to go into first-person view and examine him when prompted, b🅰efore heading into the building and defeating the thugs on the fourth floor to complete the substory.
(Substory #8) Baring their Fangs
Head to the southern end of Tenkaichi Street to trigger a cutscene, and then afterward speak to the man in the purple shirt on the floor. Next, head to the batting center and speak to the man in the yellow tracksuit before entering into battle an🃏d kicking his butt. He will try to run away, so chase him down to finish the substory.
(Substory #9) A Rivalry Reborn
You must have completed substory #8 in order to trigger this substory.
Head back to the southern end of Tenkaichi Str🌳eet to trigger a phone call. Afterward, head to the batting cages and speak with the yellow tracksuit guy again. Then you have to win the fight to complete the substory.
(Substory #10) Swipe Right
This substory is only available at night.
Head north up Theater Avenue and you should get a text onꦰ your phone. Next, go to the Smile Burger on Nakamichi Street to trigger another text message. Your next destin𝓀ation is outside Club SEGA in Theater Square. Lastly, head to the rooftop of New Serena by going up the fire escape, answer the questions, then defeat the thugs to complete the substory.
(Substory #11) Favor for an Old Friend
After the boss battle in Stardust, head to the corner of East Shichifuku Street and North Senryo Avenue to trigger a tex♒t message from "Date-san"♓. Go to the Poppo convenience store on Tenkaichi Street and purchase the cards you need. Choose the following conversation options:
- "Ask why he wants them"
- "Pry further"
- "Pry even further"
Next, head to the roof of the Old Senryo Building and defeat the൩ guys there to complete the substory.
(Substory #12) The Legendary Paul Lim
This substory is related to the darts minigame.
Go into Bantam and speak to the guy next to the d👍art board to trigger this substory. Agree to play against him and win to meet Paul Lim and to complete 🌃the substory.
(Substory #13) Showdown with Paul Lim
This substory is related to the darts minigame. You must have completed substory #12 and defeated the Medium and Hard darts opponents in Club SEGA in Theater Square in order to trigger this substory.
Return to Bantam and head towards the dartboard to trigger a cutscene with Paul 🥂Lim. Compete in a game of darts with him — it doesn't matter if you win ꦫor lose, either way, the substory will complete.
(Substory #19) Step Up to the Plate
This substory is related to the Batting Center minigame. You must have completed three Challenge Courses in the Batting Center to unlock this substory. They only count if you complete them during Chapter Six and you do not need to actually win them.
Once you complete your third Challenge Course, you will be approached by Yoshida and he 𒉰will ask you to take part in his prototype c🔯ourse. You then have to hit five home runs in a row to complete this substory and obtain Yoshida for your baseball team.
(Substory #20) A Promise Between Men
This substory is related to the Batting Center minigame. You must have completed three Home Run Courses in the Batting Center to unlock this substory. They only count if you complete them during Chapter Six and you do not need to actually win them.
Once you complete your♔ third Home Run Course, you will be approached by Gori who will challenge you to co♉mpete against him. You must score more home runs than him to complete the substory.
Chapter Seven Substories
(Substory #4) Runaway Robot
Walk down Suppon 🦋Street and you'll see a cleaning robot go past being chased by some guy. Speak to the man and agree to help him. Head to Tenkaichi Street and follow the robot until it reaches Tenkaichi Alley and a fight begins. After the fight, a cutscene will play out and the substory will complete.
(Substory #7) Follow that Drone!
This substory is only available during the day.
On Nakamichi Street, you'll find two people talking outside of Fuji Soba. Some people nearby will cry out, so approach and speak to them. Next, head over to Taihei Boulevard to🐼 trigger a Quick Time Event with a drone. Chase the drone all the🌠 way to the Old Senyro Building and head up the stairs to defeat the guys there and to complete the substory.
Endgame Substory
(Substory #51) Jo Amon
This is the final substory and relates to the hidden boss of the game. You must have completed substories #24 and #50 in order to trigger this substory.
After you speak to Nagumo on the roof of Serena at the end of the game, and, providing you meet the requirements, you will receive a t✱ext from Amon as you approach the elevator.
Amon is the hardest bosꦚs in the game, so it is recommended that your stats are all above 200 and that you are well stocked on medicine items. Once you are ready, you can take a taxi to Amon's Island to begin the fight. Defeating Amon will complete the substory and he will join the Kiryu Clan.
While the menu makes it appear as if there is a 52nd substory, substory #52 is actually just a confirmation of completing all the other substories. Once all 51 substories are complete, #52 unlocks and completes immediately.
