When the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG first debuted in 200❀2, there were only 20 different monster types. The first to be added was the Divine-Beast type in 2004, exclusive 𓆏to the three Egyptian God cards, with a few other types debuting over the years since then.
Duelist Nexus, the TCG's July 2023 booster pack, was the first to bring Illusion-type monsters to the card game, a monster type based on the Illusion Magic alignment from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and several early Yu-Gi-Oh! video games such as the 2002 Game Boy Color game Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories. Despite marking their debut, only four Illusion-type monsters are available in Duelist Nexus alongside their first support, with some being much better than others.
4 🌜 𝔍 Cornfield Coatl
The weakest of the Illusion-type monsters debuting in Duelist Ne𒈔xus strength-wise, Cornfield Coatl, previously known as Cornfield Koator, first appeared in Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories as a constructible card, and was originally a Winged-Beast-type💦 monster with no effect.
The TCG version of Cornfield Coatl ensures that if it attacks a monster, neither can be destroyed by battle, an effect all Illusion-type monsters share. Once per turn, Cornfield Coatl can also be discarded to add any monster th🐻at mentions the Chimera Fusion Spell card, besides itself, from your deck to your hand, allowing you to grab another Illusion-type monster or their support from 🗹your deck when needed.
Cornfield Coatl can also prevent your cards from being targeted once per turn by being banished from the Field or Graveyard, but only if Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast is on𒆙 the Field, negating and destroying the card used to target yours. While card targeting prevention and destruction is great, the monster requirement is restrictive, even if that monster is easier to summon due to Chimera Fusion.
3 Mi꧅rror Swordknight 🐎
Like Cornfield Coatl, Mirror Swordknight first appeared in Yu-Gi-Oh: Dark Duel Stories as a con🔯structible card with no effect and was a Beast-Warrior-type monster. The TCG version of Mirror Swordknight can be tributed to allow you to Special Summon one monster from your deck that mentions Chimera Fusion, except itself, meaning it can Special Summon other Illusion-type monsters and support.
Mirror Swordknight can be banished from the Field or Graveyard while Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast is on the Field, but only to negate the activated effect of an opponent-controlled monster, having more restrictions than Cornfield Coatl's effect.
Although each of Mirror Swordknight's unique effects are only available to use once per turn, its tribute effect is useful in that it can be Normal Summoned, tributed to Special Summon Cornfield Coatl, and then Cornfield Coatl can add a second Mirror Swordknight or another helpful monster to your hand, with the tributed one being readily available in the Graveyard to ensure future monster effect prevention.
2 🍸 Nightmare Magician ꩲ
Nightmare Magician is an Illusion-type counterpart monster to Dark M﷽agician, as it has the same amount of attack points, 100 points less in defense, and is based on when Pegasus took control of Yugi's Dark Magician during their first duel in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga.
While Nightmare Magician has the same battle destruction prevention effect as other Illusion-type monsters, its﷽ second effect builds on top of it.
After battling an opponent's monster, Nightmare Magician allows you can take control of that monster at the end of the Damage Step. Since control of the opponent's monster has no specific ending time, Nightmare Magician can help steal multiple monsters as the duel progresses as long as it isn't destroyed or has its effect negated.
Additionally, Nightmare Magician can destroy one card on the Field when another monster attacks, but only at the start of the damage step. Because this effect🃏 can activate when any other monster attacks, this means you can use it to destroy any attacking monster, therefore preventing any potential damage or destruction.
1 Chimera♏ The Illusion Beast
An upgraded form of the classic Fusion Monster Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast, which168澳洲幸运5开奖网: it requires as fusion material alongside one or more Illusion-type-monsters, Chimera the Illu▨sion Beast is so far the only Illusion-type monster seemingly not based on a prev♛iously video game-exclusive card or manga event.
Chimera the Illusion Beast can attack as many monsters as materials used to summon it each Battle Phase, and with 3100 base attack points, that's nothing to scoff at. In addition to the Illusion-type battle destruction prevention effect, Chimera can reduce a battled monster's attack points to zero and negate its effects, meaning that it can deal at least 3100 additional points of battle damage after its first attack.
Duelist Nexus also marks the debut of Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws, Big-Winged Berfomet, and Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts, retrained counterparts of Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts, Berfomet, and Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast, respectively. All th🌱ree serve as support for Illusion-type monsters despite not sharing the type themselves, giving them a pivotal role in Illusion-type decks.
