So far, 2019 has been a delightful year for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda franchise. First, we got the surprise collaboration with Cadence of Hyrule and now a remake of Link’s Awakening on Switch.

Will there be more surprises before tꦛhe end of the year? Who knows? For now, let’s run down what we liked and didn’t like about this remake of the much-loved title.

10 Best: Art Design 💙

The toy-like aesthetiꦜc of this game is probably pretty divisive. On oneꦬ hand, it is marvelous and adorable while on the other it might be thought to be to childlike for hardcore Zelda fans.

We are siding with the former opinion because it really is like a dream come true, which fits with the overall theme of the game. Nintendo should use this art style for more of its꧒ properties. It would be especially cool if they ever made an Amiibo centered RPG.

9 W🙈orst: Music 🦹

Besides the main theme, the music is pretty lacking compared toꦯ a lot of other entries in this series. It’s not that 𒁏the remixes are bad. The actual music that came before it just isn’t that great and a remix can only do so much.

The music is only terrible when in comparison to other games in the series. That i🌱s to say, it won’t split the old eardrums, it just won't engage you as much as the more recent scores do.

8 B𒐪est: M🐈ap Markers

As is the case with most Zelda games, there is a lot of backtracking. Each dungeon grants Link🐽 a new tool, which then allows him to explore more of the island. The first piece of equipment gained is the feather, which 🍎allows players to hop over holes.

Coming across a random secret on the map to then find out the right equipment isn’t 🐷with you can be frustrating in that remembering every secret can be tricky. That’s why we love the new map markers for this remake. They aren’t that detailed, 💧but anything is better than nothing.

One thing we wish woul🦋d have been added is ꦰsome sort of spell, item, or tweak to Link to make him go faster. The Pegasus Boots can be achieved in the third dungeon, but those dashes hardly help with basic traversal.

This makes getting around a chore since again there is a lot𝓀 of backtracking. The warp points help, but 🗹they are few and far between. It doesn’t make the game unplayable. It just slows down the momentum.

6 ꧙ Best: Opening Cutscene 🥃

When Nintendo dropped the news about this remake they led with the opening ani💝mated cutscene making viewers, ourselves included, think for a brief second that that was going to be the art style.

Sadly it isn’t, although as stated, we do love the art style. However, the inclusion of the opening cinematic along with the ending one is good enough for us. It makes us think back to the days of the PS1 and PS2 where animated cutscen🃏es were all the rage.

5 Worst: Ulrira 💞

In Mabe Village, there is an old man by the name of Ulrira. If players try to talk to him he will stammer something nonsensical out. He is too shy to speak in person, but if players find tele💮phone kiosks throughout the island, he will dish out some hints.

These tips are unfortunately not that great. They can help sometimes, but more often than not we found his advice to be rather too cryptic. We fee🔯l that the remake could have done more to improve this system.

4 ℱ Be🦹st: No More Screen Tearing

While Link’s Speed isn’t as fast as𝓰 we would want, we do like that this remake did away with the screen tearing. Before players had to move from screen to screen. It didn’t take that much time to transition, but it is a jarring thing to go back to now. Not just for the original version, but othe꧟r retro games like it.

Now everything is on🧔e big open world. Except for caves and dungeons that is, but overall it is a much improved interconnected world.

3 ⛄ Worst: Frame Rate

Link’s Awakening does suffer from another kind of screen tearing though in the form of a bad frame rate. When playing it on the go it is much more noticeable. That’s why we recommend playin💙g it while docked. It won’t make the dips go away, but they are less frequent by our account.

The chugging frame rate won’t make the game unplayable either, it’s just choppy enough to notice. Nintendo is usually b💧etter w𝕴ith this sort of thing. Loading into shops, caves, and dungeons also takes longer than we thought possible.

2 💧 🅰 Best: Dozens Of Cameos

The shining achievement of Link’s Awakening that makes it stand out from other entries is how weird it is. It has dozens of direct cameos from Nintendo games like including Chain Chomps and Goombas. It also has references to other games like Will Wright, the creator of SimCity.

On top of that, it has 2D segments. That is not unheard of in the franchise as Zelda II took place pr♏imarily in 2D. The point is w♔e love how imaginative this was for a Game Boy game.

1 ♛ Wor♉st: Excessive Backtracking

The one thing we disliked the most is something we have 🦄already discussed in one form or another. As great as the map markers are it doesn’t help that the amount of backtracking one has to do after every dungeon is exhausting. This is due to Link’s speed and by the fact that there are not enough warp points.

The lack of a good hint line s🍸ystem also doesn’t help. All of those issues and more are why we had to include backtꦜracking in its own spot. And yes we realize backtracking is part of the Zelda brand, but it could have been handled better for this remake.
